Something if "off", either: C:N ratio- brown-green mix less than ideal Moisture- it's too wet or too dry Air Or, could it have heated already and then cooled? Mine stays hot for a week or less if I don't touch it. You just have to play with it to get it right. Maybe try adding nitrogen (green) and see if that works, give it several days. If not, maybe try more carbon (brown). Do you think it's too wet? Flip and let it dry out some. If it seems dry, try more water. Even when you get the right knack, sometimes it might not get as hot as other times. It's really a matter of experience, and doing it is the only real way to learn. It's one of those "practice makes perfect" things. But there's nothing wrong with cold composting. It will still break down into good stuff, it just takes longer. Karen

i have the same problem with my black beauty mulberry: 2 years of age and about 3 feet tall, and presumably like monsoon's, i got it from burntridgenursery.com mine actually fruits every year, as soon as it buds in spring. But the fruits don't go past the red color, and drops before they turn purple. As everyone had indicated here, quite likely too young to bear fruits to maturity. It only had heart-shaped leaves in 2013, in 2014, it developed the three-lobed leaves typical of figs and jackfruit trees, so i presume this new development indicates it has reached puberty, and hopefully, adulthood. I also have a couple of noir of spain black mulberries, and they too are doing the same exact things as the black beauties, bearing fruits, but subject to fruit-drop before turning purple. however, there are two varieties of mulberries which will produce fruits to maturity on the same year they have been planted, and at really tiny sizes. our pakistani mulberry actually produced mature fruits on its first year of being planted, at nothing more than a couple of feet tall, and just a spindly scrawny little stem, which even endured having its leaves stripped by the neighborhood kids. Since i don't fertilize any of my mulberries, quite likely that yammine's may have been getting extra doses of nitrogen, encouraging growth, but might inhibit fruiting. the dwarf gerardi mulberry is even more precocious, and will bear huge berries at almost every node of its 9" stem, just a couple of month after i unpacked it from the fedex box. dwarf gerardi's have very short internodes. .i am growing them in las vegas, so it could be the relatively high temps we have during spring which influence such 'behaviors'

I've grown Mister Lincoln on and off for many years, and more often than not it takes on magenta/bluish shades. Those of you that posted magenta pink pics of Mister Lincoln...In my opinion, you definitely have the right variety, sometimes that's just how it looks. It's the marketing for 50+ years that's always described Mister Lincoln as the quintessential red, in truth it's not always that red. Back in the late 60s when it was introduced, I think it was rightly considered very red. But the standard is higher now, with the introduction of roses like Olympiad and Veterans Honor, which are a far purer, true red. Mister Lincoln also opens too fast and doesn't last as long as those newer reds. It is still probably the best of the old 'reds' , a strong grower with very good fragrance. I think Firefighter is the best compromise between old and new reds...it is quite red, still very fragrant, and very generous in bloom.

Thanks for the advice from a month or so ago! I managed to avoid doing anything drastic to my limelight and it eventually started to leaf out in mid-May. I think the little guy is gonna make it. That said, your helpful words couldn't keep me from doing a little experimentation. I happened to be reading a book about pruning and noticed a passage that said that pruning a small portion of a branch can rejuvenate it. I snipped off a few branch tips and the first leaf emerged two days later. I'm not certain that the pruning did the trick, but given what I've learned about plant hormones and pruning, it may have helped. If any of you have any thoughts on this, let me know.
