what should i do with this bedroom? pic inside.
Comments (7)The wall color is nice. The room needs a few things to pull it all together. For starters, a large area rug with perhaps a light neutral color. This would balance the somewhat jarringly high contrast of the light colored ceiling. You might consider different bedding. The upholstered headboard and frame are quite attractive. However, I don't think the bedding suits it very well. Perhaps for the bedding a pattern that incorporates the wall color, light neutrals, and an accent color would look very nice. A pair of comfy club chairs with an accent table between them would work very well in front of the window. Also, lamps on the bedside tables and large scale artwork on the walls could be added. I could go on but that's probably more than you wanted to hear. You have a nicely proportioned room with much potential. Have fun decorating....See MoreBedroom Pics
Comments (25)A few great finds today!!! I took a pillow sham and cut it and put it into the frames!!! Hard to see in the photo but sooooo beautiful in person! The new Candle and new tray (i can put my necklaces /rings in that) What else should I put on the big dresser? maybe some decorator books?? Still looking for a cool mirror to hang over it and get rid of the old mirror. Im leaning towards - that big blank wall- I got another big frame-- want to put a chair and small table under it - then a big floor mirror next to it for getting dressed... then a chaise/loveseat at the end of the bed-- still looking!! So happy with my small changes...See MoreBedroom Pics - work in progress
Comments (60)marti that's what I was thinking too. The twist pile looks like it would hide a lot of things like that Idie I could get it bound as a large rug but the floor would really need to be sanded back and finished. There's a few spots where it looks like there's been damage from water or something spilled on them. I will be getting the hallway and living room floor sanded and polished though *sometime* in the future lol. I'm really looking forward to that. Thanks desertsteph! I was pretty happy to see the plaid go too and that hookboard is so handy for all those things that used to end up on the chair or tossed on the dresser. I get so impatient sometimes to get things finished but I have a hard time making decisions and then I get frustrated and it stops being fun. If I had more of a clue to what Im doing I would enjoy it more but this decorating things is so hard lol shades do you know what type of carpet pile it is? what a shame that the dogs have shredded it :/ I really hope mine dont ruin mine but I am a bit scared for the new carpet :) ML the saleswoman started out by showing me the different carpet styles and said if I had pets to stay away from this and this type because they could unravel big long threads if they scratch at it so that left the plush or the twist style. The plush has a more solid look but I just know there will always be footprints from the door to the bed and the door to the wardrobe where we're always tracking back and forth. It's a bit of a trade off I guess because I do like that more solid look but the twist piles all seem to have that hazy colour movement. "After you get this project completed, does it mean you'll be working on the fireplace again? I'll head on over to that thread and check. Not trying to pressure you, mind you! :)" ok I "fess up" lol, I did get distracted again and started doing some other fix ups around the house over the last few weeks but it made me see that Im trying to do too many things at once so no more new projects until I finish the ones I started (and this time I mean it :) ). Im hoping to sort out the carpet and the little shelf in the bedroom then Im back to the fireplace hehe...See MoreWhat color curtains & headboard for bedroom? (pics)
Comments (4)Ooo great ideas, thank you so much!! The bedding is Abigail Paisley by Crate & Barrel. I got it right before they sold out about a year ago. I love the turquoise idea, but am unsure how to pull it off. Would I replace existing pillows? Print, textured, or solid? Sorry for the dumb questions, but this is my first house and IâÂÂm new at this. =) Absolutely love the drapes/bamboo combo idea! I had been tossing around the idea of that type/color drapes alone, but I think the addition of the bamboo shades would really make it. Something like this, perhaps? And 2 regular panels per window, or ? That is a gorgeous (& pricey!) headboard. Probably way beyond my ability to make, haha. What about something more rectangular (and easier to make, lol) like this? Too simple? And yes, larger rectangular nightstands would be definitely be better! Should I get rid of the chair in the corner and get nightstands that are about the width of the windows, or would that be too big? White/cream furniture or some sort of wood color? IâÂÂm also really liking the area rug idea. A great way to cover the icky carpet and add more interest to the room! (IâÂÂm planning on eventually replacing the carpet with hardwood or laminate, but I gotta save up first!) Thanks for your suggestions and patience with my questions. :-D...See More- 9 years ago
