Debra, garden looks all "good" to me!! Love the garden bed shot and it looks pretty clean! Looks as though you did not need to threaten Private Reserve after all. After my decision to move it out after the season, I have had perfect blooms on it. It looks so pretty with the coneflowers. Dancing Flamingo has really performed well for you. Maybe you should keep it. :)

Love the garden shot! I like seeing other flowers planted with daylilies. I'm glad the deer have been staying away. I did my weekly spray tonight, and used the Gain mixture this week. Private Reserve, Dancing Flamingo, and Blue Over You are my favorites today.

Kate - That's the only one of my "clean" gardens that has blooms in it. The two gardens I completely redid, by removing plants and digging out all the Bermuda grass and wild violets, were the ones completely decimated by the deer. What irony! I had newer UFs and my evaluation seedlings in the circle bed, where only five buds remain. The other was a raised bed where only one plant now has buds, but only a few on what would have been a glorious clump of Aztec Headdress.

The first bloom on Private Reserve was splotchy beyond belief, but this one only has a couple of tiny spots on it. Unfortunately, I don't think it will get enough sun to do well that close to the cones. They grew larger than I thought they would. I'm really pleased with how pretty it looks with the white cones, so maybe I'll only have to move it forward a bit. Dancing Flamingo is definitely a keeper! Every bloom on that one is perfect. Once it settles in more, with taller scapes and better bud count, I think it will be spectacular.

Beautiful posting. I love seeing the coneflowers too because I managed to get the dreaded aster virus and can't grow them anymore. Your companion plants just make the lilies look better. The top garden shot is gorgeous. Garden shots just make me happy, that is all there is to it. And the daylilies are magnificent! Listen you have to prioritize and right now, a perfectly clean garden without any blooms would fall short. Do what is needed. The blooms draw out attention and the weeds will be there to deal with when bloom season is over. Private Reserve, Barbara Mandrell, Dancing Flamingo, Blue Over You, Everything You Desire....no way to pick one. I love them all! I do enjoy this time of year and all the lovely photos. So glad the deer prevention is working.

Lori - Fred Manning says the Gain mixture has worked like a charm for him. So I'm hoping that keeps working for me. It smells so much better than Liquid Fence or Milorganite.

I was really pleased with the first bloom on Blue Over You. Lambertson said it has the bluest eye in his garden, and it is one of the bluest I have seen. The plant did fade a lot by afternoon though. That's my main issue with blue eyed cultivars. They lose the blue and look so drab by 2 o'clock. I lost several Lambertsons two winters ago when temperatures went below zero, so the two new ones I got this spring are planted next to the house for better protection.

Can't pick just one favorite, but I narrowed it to these four, Blue Over You, Dancing Flamingo, Everything You Desire and Stenciled Infusion.

Too bad we don't have the "drool" emoji, I would be using it here. Dancing Flamingo is definitely drool worthy and my favorite. Hope your deer deterrent mixture continues to work. I have one Lambertson, Ada May Musick with a pale blue eye and I love it. It is already putting up two new scapes. It holds up pretty well to the heat, too.

Stenciled Infusion caught my eye first today, love the green throat with the purple! My favorites are usually like is and purples so Blue Over You is on my list also. I like the daylilies with companion plants, it enhances the daylilies. So,glad the deer are staying away!

Avedon - Ada May Musick is hardy and vigorour. I'm finding the older Lambertsons are the ones that thrive in my garden. The newer ones tends to die or dwindle away. I hate that because they are so beautiful.

What is the dark red echinacea in the first shot? I notice that when you click on the pictures, the size is about the same. On other posts, the size increases a lot. Do you use Photo or Houzz Photo in uploading? I wonder why there is a difference.

Mantis - That's the Sombrero Salsa cone. It has opened flowers that are very dark red with the cooler nights here. When I bought it, it had darker red flowers than the ones around it, also tagged Sombrero Salsa. That photo was taken in the evening, shade, so that might make them look even darker.

Shive, what are some of the older Lambertsons that do well for you? The only one I have left is Freedom's Highway. I'll have to put Ada May Musick on my want list. One of my favorite Lambertsons is Cerulean Warbler. Is anyone still growing this one? I bought it from Maryotts and got one or two blooms before it disappeared forever.

Of course you see them in person, so you would know best, but the position of Chilled Orange Sobet and Everything you Desire in your post make them look like they belong together. I like both of them. Don't remember seeing Everything you Desire before. It looks on the hot pink side on my monitor, but I'm betting it's really a red.....The rest of your daylilies are wonderful as usual. I sure hope those deer go back to where they came from and leave you alone.........Maryl

Maryl- Chilled Orange Sorbet and Everything You Desire are actually planted next to each other. The color of Everything You Desire is unusual. Pettit called it cranberry rose. I call it a pinky red.

OOOh. I lika da PINKY part on Everything You Desire. How do Pettit daylilies do for you. I've only had a couple and they didn't last long.......Good combo with both together. And I see you spotted it as usual. You do combos very nicely.....Maryl

Maryl - Some of the Petit daylilies do very well, and others don't. I got Everything You Desire as a single fan that didn't bloom the first year. Now it's two. The scapes are the registered height and moderately budded - 13 to 15 buds per scape here. You can't beat the older Aztec Headdress that clumps up fast and always reblooms. Queen of Narnia is also an excellent near white that always performs well and reblooms. Men in Black is a good one too.
