Need inexpensive appliances for small apartment
Comments (6)If you have a Sears in your area, Their Kenmore brand of appliances have long track record for affordability and reliability. If Sears happens to have a "Scratch & Dent" store (an outlet store where appliances with cosmetic damage are sold) in your area....then you can probably pick up perfectly good appliances at bargain prices, albeit with scratches or a dent in places where they might not show. Most come with complete warranties. The "Scratch & Dent" stores also sell some appliances that have returned when customers are unhappy, but I think it's usually best to avoid those. If you shop carefully, you can save money and get perfectly serviceable appliances....See MoreAppliance Size for garage apartment
Comments (2)I vote for full size also. My friend had a one bedroom garage apartment. She likes to cook so I dont think she would have been happy with small appliances. FYI. Her washer & dryer was in the walk in closet. She loved it. Said it was super convenient....See MoreIn Law Apartment - Smaller Appliances?
Comments (17)desertsteph - I am looking at a 12cu ft fridge at the moment. And a 15cu ft. Someone on another thread, just recommended Craig’s List - I’m going to have to check that out. That was some deal you got. Fishcow -I haven’t heard a bad word about the 18” dishwasher yet. I’ll check it out. Glad you are happy with yours. annaship1 - I’m thinking that there may be other family members who would want to live there if it became vacant again. So renters don’t seem likely. I’m actually willing to use the smaller appliances, if they were made by mainstream Brand names and were not 3x the cost of a regular sized appliance, I wouldn’t have a problem. nosoccermom - Check out the Frigidaire FFET1222QW refrigerator - very reasonably priced. 12 cu ft. 60Hx29Dx24W. I prefer the European models that are nice and tall, because I think they look better, but, I can’t pay that price. aptosca - I was actually looking for a 24” wide fridge and it wasn’t as important to me that it be counter depth. So the Frigidaire listed above is the one I’m considering. I hope I don’t have to go with a 30” range. I know it seems odd, but even 6” here and 6” there are sometimes make or break for a layout. cry - I’m going to check out that LG. I like the LG brand. I think I’d like a little larger if possible, so I’ll see if they have another size too. Writers block - I’ll try to do a search of GW for any posts on the Summit Fridges. Thanks. Thanks all. I’ll be looking for awhile, so always happy to hear anyone’s experiences with these apartment size appliances....See MoreLooking for appliance recommendations
Comments (5)We've remodeled a couple of homes and have had good luck with the top or near top of the line Whirlpool dishwashers. We just moved to a house with a bottom of the line DW and I HATE it. The wire racks are not made for normal dishes. Pictures make it look like normal dishes fit, but they don't. Before you decide on the DW, you might take several of your bowls and glassware in to to a showroom where they are on display to be sure you aren't disappointed later. The other problem with this one is the silverware rack fits onto the door, so water can't get behind the silverware to wash the back side of it....See Morenosoccermom
