What do you do with your frozen apricots?
Comments (7)This gardening/preserving life certainly has taught me a lot about life. It makes me wonder - too - about the changes in climate that I have seen in this part of the world. It's hard for me to believe that "mere man" could be causing these weather changes - but perhaps. We had lots of very cold and rainy weather - mostly winter -so probably good for fruit trees. On the other hand, tomatoes are usually grown in winter in this part of the country, but certainly not in my back yard. I just picked my first cherry tomato yesterday. The vines are running all over the place. With my advancing age, I just decided to let "em" ramble. They probably can find there way - somehow - to see their way clear to burst up through the squash vines - to get a peak of sunlight. Well - finally finishing up the last of the "cots" and picked slightly green - putting them under screens to ripen - not as good as tree ripe, but at least I gave my winged friends the message - somewhat. The next tree will be awhile - thank goodness. Things are beginning to come ripe fast - now that we've had 2 days of sunshine. Crazy weather - I agree. bejay...See MoreWhat labels do you use for frozen dishes?
Comments (27)I use painter's masking tape -- either the blue stuff or the new Frog (green) tape. It sticks on plastic containers and plastic freezer bags and comes off easily. I, too, write the label info with a Sharpie, usually while the tape is still on the roll. I try to tear off relatively nice edges, but it doesn't bother me if I get a weird edge. Of course, if the item is already frozen and chilly, I don't think anything would work. And tape doesn't work that well if you're trying to stick it on a glass casserole. I never tried freezing things in a metal pan, so I can't comment on that. Here is a link that might be useful: Painter's Masking Tape...See MoreWhen do you buy your frozen turkey?
Comments (10)You can order a fresh one and then you will not have to wait for it to thaw. If you are planning to do the "dry salt" method of roasting, you will need to pick it up on Monday, November 19 to start the salting process. Personally, I am not cooking a whole turkey this year. If you wanted to dry salt a frozen turkey, you would need to start thawing it on Sunday at the latest. Lars...See MoreLOOKING for: Frozen coffee drink
Comments (5)I just made a very simple "iced" coffee recipe to go with breakfast this morning...You could certainly pour it over ice in the blender and make a frozen coffee. 8-10 cups of strong fresh brewed coffee 1 can of sweetened condensed milk (low fat, fat free..whatever) Blend, chill..pour over ice... I will definately make it again, and again..and again... I will say that some coffee stands, use a mix and ice in a special machine..(think slurpee/icee) others do do it with a shot or two of espresso, milk, flavor syrup, chocolate syrup and ice with each one blended in the blender....See MoreUser
