Seen in our driveway

Our new house has a long, long driveway. It is 3/4 mile from the street to our house, and the driveway continues maybe another 1/10 of a mile to the barn. Much of the driveway is a narrow pipestem between steep wooded hills on one side and a tiny overgrown wooded creek on the other.

Since moving in we've seen quite a large number of different animals on or near our driveway, and have added four new entries in the past week. The list so far is:

  • Opossum

  • White-tailed deer

  • Red Fox

  • Canada Geese

  • Cottontail

  • Gray Squirrel

  • Chipmunk

  • Coyote

  • 5-lined Skink (lizard)

  • Eastern Rat Snake

  • Toad

  • Frog

  • Great Blue Heron

  • Owl

  • Crow

and new within the last week

  • Black Bear
  • Wild Turkey
  • Box Turtle
