Although I love our memory foam mattress I have never been able to use a memory foam pillow. I much prefer a latex foam pillow. I have 2 that I bought off of Groupon. I wish they would run that sale again. Good Luck!

I bought DH a latex foam pillow, and now I steal it when he gets up or is out of town. I fall asleep on my back but side-sleep later. The latex pillow is not good for back sleeping (can't bunch it under my neck for support) but it is wonderful for side-sleeping!

It really is perfect for me but only in the winter. I had to change to one of my old pillows as soon as it warmed up. I'll be watching the responses here.

I also bought that Biosense pillow based on the previous thread/recommendation. I got it for DH who was having neck and shoulder pain. He seems to like it. I've tried it but never slept on it all night. I'm used to a softer pillow but that thing was surprisingly comfortable considering how firm it is. I can see how it would be good as it holds your head/neck straight.

The third thing to know is you're using it wrong. If you think you lay the pillow case on your bed the long way, and lay your shoulders into the curve, you're wrong. Turn it on its side, so you're cradling it. I'm convinced that's how this pillow is designed to be used, because it makes all the world of difference in comfort and neck position. In this position, my neck feels supported at the proper angle. If I try to use it with the pillow in a more traditional position, it feels too high.

Just curious if anyone else finds this to be true for them as well?

The Bio-sense pillow was a lifesaver for me. I have the one with the curve. The picture on the box shows it being used in the normal way you would position a pillow. I tuck the curve around my shoulder. As I said in the other thread, it solved my shoulder pain overnight and I am not exaggerating. I think it comes in a rectangular shape as well. Horizontal, not vertical

DH uses the pillow in the traditional way.

We bought Tempurpedic pillows two years ago. Best. Pillow. Ever.

We just bought new pillows from the Company Store. I bought the side sleeper ones for myself and back sleeper for DH. We are both happy with them. Even tho we have a queen bed, I buy king pillows. We each have 2. I like the way they "fill" the space better than standard pillows (I don't like adding fussy decorative pillows) decor-wise, plus they feel a little more luxurious for sleeping.

Latex foam pillows the only thing I will sleep on. I am a side sleeper. There are many threads on GW about latex pillows, you can do a search. We love them. I can't use memory foam at all too hot.

Savvy Rest shredded latex pillow. It was a lifechanger for both my husband and I! We were able to get two queen size pillows, and remove enough stuffing to make a third pillow in a zip case.

I really need a new side sleeping pillow too. :( my neck is always hurting. between sitting in front of a computer all day and then sleeping on crappy pillows I am a mess. :(

We're replacing our wool/latex pillows (2 years old) for Black Label Prima Loft Pillows, made in USA by The Company Store in Wisconsin. They arrive tomorrow, so I'll let you know soon.

We were tempted to choose expensive down, but the allergist told us to avoid down pillows, regardless of promises of no dander or dust, it's not worth the risk.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm still not sure which pillow I'm going to order. Sometimes I wish there weren't 300,224 options of every . single . thing. I actually thought we needed a new mattress. My upper and middle back would hurt in the morning for about a half hour or so even though I still think are bed is super comfortable. I chalked it up to the pregnancy and extra weight at the time but it still was happening after all that. I was due for new head and between the knee pillows so bought a few inexpensive ones and it seemed to help. Now they're starting to flatten already so it's time to order something decent.

Well, The Company Store let me down. I ordered the PrimaLoft Firm for side sleepers. It's not nearly firm enough. My ear touches the mattress and I can feel a strain in my neck which I haven't felt while using the wool/latex pillow. So, after one day, I'm taking advantage of their return policy and will resume my search.

Brushworks - That's frustrating. I always feel like I'm wasting time when having to deal with returns all while not having the item you expected.

This is going to be embarrasing but oh well. I sleep the same way you do and I'm extremely picky. About 13 years ago I ordered a pillow online from a high end pillow store in California. I can't remember the name or find it on google. They only sell pillows and comforters I think.

But I know what type of pillow you need because I refuse to throw this thing away! I bought a king size down pillow, medium.

I use a king size firm pillow under my down pillow. What I do is lay on my side, tuck the down pillow under the side of my head, and adjust it to my liking because the pillow has some give to it. I still use this pillow even though the feathers have shrunk. lol I sleep like a baby.

Down pillow, medium. Not soft or hard, just medium.

I do remember paying $100 for the pillow and it was worth every penny. Even a soft down pillow would help I think.

Oakley, my friend who is a massage therapist said that I needed a down pillow for exactly that reason (being able to squish it into different shapes). I just haven't gotten around to getting one yet. :)

"Squish!" That's the word I was trying to come up with. The more you use the pillow, the squishier it gets. lol. Yes, by all means get a down and I don't think they're as expensive as they used to be either.

I'm so spoiled I always take my pillow with me if I'm going to stay somewhere overnight. :)

msmeow -- that's exactly what you can do with a shredded latex pillow, like my Savvy Rest. Sometimes I want more support (under my neck for side sleeping) and sometimes less (under my head for back sleeping). I love this pillow!! I reshape it every night when I get into bed.

I use a pillow to maintain spinal alignment. All other reasons are fluff.

We did the same as pippied, bought two queen size shredded latex pillows from Savvy Rest and took out enough latex for a third pillow.

DH bought a new down pillow a few weeks ago and doesn't like it. He says it's too fluffy and can't get comfortable with it. After coming back to this thread the other day I decided to give it a try and it's lovely. The more I think about it I think it's a feather and microfiber...or maybe it was shredded latex.... something liked that mixed together. As long as it's working I think I'll stick with that for now! I'll update if I need to change.
