prep sink brand same as main sink?
Comments (7)Mine are both stainless, but my main sink is KWC and the prep sink is Blanco. I considered a white farmhouse sink, and the prep sink still would have been stainless. I sure wouldn't feel obligated to match brands, but you might find that different brands will have a slightly different finish (the degree of brushed or shiny, polished finish). Most are brushed to some degree -- a few are more polished and mirror-like. If they are both under-mounted, most folks would never notice unless they are very different -- and then they probably still wouldn't care. But if you are the one in the group who could see nothing else --- well, you probably wouldn't be asking....See More"Dawn" Sink - Anyone heard of teh brand?
Comments (4)My kitchen remodel was in 2012. I have a Dawn sink, undermount, 30"-ish, single bowl. It's dandy and didn't cost a lot as I recall. The drain is smack dab in the middle and I've never understood why some people think that's a bad thing. I use a grid with mine and am thinking it would be nice to treat myself to a new one, because they're a PITA to clean, esp. where the wires cross, which is everywhere....See MoreWhat are the best Sink Brands?
Comments (30)The finish is called Durakryl. It was put on by the countertop manufacturer, so I don't know anything about it other than the name. The last set of close up pictures show the cut out part with no finish on them. For those parts I am using food grade mineral oil. A damp cloth takes care of the rest of the counter. Doing the prep work in the sink really saves the counter as it never really gets dirty other than a few splatters when cooking. The wood is ash, however, it looks about the same as the maple I have elsewhere. For the oil: Purchase one small bottle ($10) of the mineral oil and a gallon to refill the bottle ($30). Use your hands rather than a cloth to apply. It also helps with chapped hands in winter. All the information I've seen says once a day for the first month, and then once a week for six months, and then as often as required. Most sources also say to not use any kind of vegetable oil because they will eventually go rancid. For the parts of the counter that I use the oil on, I put some on every time I oil the cutting board....See MoreThoughts on Ledge sinks
Comments (8)I got one with accessories because I have a small kitchen so this enables me to prep; drain any hand washed stuff as well as wash items using the real estate above the sink. It also enables me to have a larger sink cabinet so that I can fit a normal size trash underneath. Mine was expensive since it is copper farmhouse but I believe there are moderately priced stainless steel ones for far less than Kohler and what I think is Workstation - at any rate those are quite expensive stainless sinks but people on this forum have gotten less expensive stainless steel which they are quite pleased with....See MoreWW Love Your Home
