80's Brown Mosaic Tile Bathroom- help!
Comments (3)Thanks, Timber! What you're describing sounds a lot like RH's silver sage, which I love, but looked weird next to my tile. Possibly it's the particular brown of these tiles. I'm going for a beachy look, but it's quite a stretch with what I have to work with!...See MoreNeed help in bathroom floor tile choices
Comments (7)I totally understand your concerns about maintaining congruity with the era of the house. My personal feeling is the the mix of old and new is what makes design interesting. I'm not a fan of walking into say an all modern room in a vintage home. It's jarring. But intentionally integrating a modern element into a more traditional space can be the spark that "makes" it. So, for your bathroom, the larger hex can be a "riff" on the classic tile - that updates it while playing homage to the house's era. At the same time, the use of a solid blue on the floor is already a more modern use of the material. So you could go with a smaller blue hex rather than the larger. I would choose your grout very carefully. I personally don't like a ton of contrast between the tile color and the grout. It just looks really busy to my eye. I also am imminently practical and would never put white grout on a floor. Something in the medium gray range would probably work best but I would have your tile installer make you up a couple sample boards once you get to that point. Smaller hex in a solid color: Grout similar to tile color:...See MoreNeed help with floor tile & color in bathroom
Comments (11)I love the vanity. You need to plan the room around it. Do not use off-white anywhere in the room (not tile, not ceiling or trim paint, sinks, nothing) Select everything for the room (fixtures & flooring, before you choose your paint color. Paint the walls a pale something but not a white and paint the ceiling the wall color. How about a small geometric pattern wallpaper instead of paint for the walls and then paint the ceiling a color to go with the paper. Do all this before selecting a floor and keep that simple as well. Then choose all your plumbing fixtures and towel bars at one time,...See MoreButt-joint mosaic floor tiles in bathroom?
Comments (5)No way. Did you receive a sample prior to ordering and did it represent what you received when you ordered? We would refuse as well and TileBar needs to step up. Don't back down with them. We would refuse this for multiple reasons, including those stated above but also what looks like very suspect marble quality just based on your photo. Do pay attention to the country of origin when considering tile from an online source. Basically, it cannot be installed to their specifications OR industry standards without taking the sheets apart and hand setting the individual mosaics. Now that's an expensive install!...See MoreRelated Professionals
