Look at Daltile Rittenhouse Square and Daltile Semi Gloss. Many colors offered.

Around here, 5" or 6" square tiles were the norm for abovestairs. Subways were used only in servant areas like butler pantries, laundry rooms and basement kitchens. So, I would like to see your beautiful basket weave with a 6" square blue tile, or a buttery yellow or a minty green. If you could spring for one that was hand glazed, so that there is variation in color intensity between the different tiles, even better! Lay them in a running bond. Tile as high as you can afford to tile, all the walls of the room. A pencil molding of white or black would be nice, too.

@BethA.... do you think that that idea of the marble look tile will go with a colored vanity like dark gray? Do you think that it will give the nice, clean, relaxed look of a transitional bathroom?

I am a bit concerned of the white marble or white square tile with young ones underfoot though. This will be there main bathroom.

Saw this wall subway marble tile on Houzz and thinking of adding a beautiful gray vanity. What do you think of pairing it with light blue walls?

Unfortunately, not handy. CubedDetroit.com features Detroit mansions and mini-mansions with the look, but I don't have time to search for one with floor tile like yours.

If you have the option, I would go with marble-look floor tile always, and especially if you have non-potty-trained humans or animals about. Marble will etch from urine, and will stain. I won't do a marble floor, and my elderly dog died a year ago. I want the option to develop "issues" from future pets or persons and not worry about my floor. Marble on a bathroom floor is asking for perfection from everyone who will ever use it. Too much pressure, in my mind!

Kim, the marble-look tile that I linked to is porcelain. So, it should be fine underfoot. There is a polished and unpolished version. The unpolished should definitely be fine on the floor... it has plenty of texture (I think) to keep from being slippery.

I like the tile that you linked! I think it would look good with light blue walls, but I would make sure the blue is on the cooler side.
