White paint color to pair w/ white subway tile in bathroom?

We are about to start remodeling our master bathroom, and I have everything decided except for the paint color. The bathroom is very small, so I want to keep the colors light and airy to expand the space. The floors will be carrara marble hex, and the shower walls (floor to ceiling) + "wet" wall (wainscoting) will be 4x16 subway tile (color is "Soho White" but I'm not sure the brand... it's budget tile). Ideally, I want to use the same white paint for the walls and ceiling, but I definitely don't want stark white. I don't want the space looking too cold. My favorite white is "White Dove" from BM.

Question: Will an off-white paint color like White Dove clash against the white subway tile?

Alternative: Our master bedroom is painted BM Edgecomb Gray, so we could continue that into the bathroom, but that doesn't square away with my desire for a light and airy color scheme. Any ideas for light greige paints that coordinate with Edgecomb Gray but are lighter?

All thoughts appreciated!

You don't mention what color trim is in the master bedroom but if it works wth your tile selection, that's the easiest and most continuous way to go.

i think your best best with the wall color would be to have the paint store mix a sample quart in a half formula of Edgecomb gray. If that is too much color you could even go with 1/4 formula. Doing a decent sample (two coats!!) on the wall in the space itself will give you a good idea on color.

For "white" ceilings I generally use 1/2 formula of the trim color. Hope that helps.

If trim in MBr doesn't work, try White Dove. Without seeing the tile in person I can't advise as to whether it will work. I like to prime and paint a piece of trim (about 12" or so) so I can get a good idea of the color and carry it around with me.

White Dove is a no, go with a white that doesn't have obvious tones jumping out at you (yellow, pink) when you compare the tile and paint side by side. Again, working up a trim sample is always better than choosing off the paint chip.

anne7- the double vanity is 64' wide. That was the biggest we could fit in the space we had. It gave us a bit more counter space in between sinks than a standard 60' would have. I wish it had been made with wider drawers though. I modeled it after one I found on pottery barn that had similar inset doors and hardware. You are right, there is no tub:( There just wasn't space. island- the floor tiles are Jeffrey Court iceberg marble polished (90019 They are from the Cap.9- Pietra Opus II series and are 4 x 8. The shower stall is just over 5'. I had the mirrors made at a local frame shop. I had shopped around for white mirrors that I liked and just couldn't find something simple and yet substantial so I had them made. It is just a 20" x 24" beveled mirror with a 2" frame all the way around. We don't have medicine cabinets. I decided to forgo the cabinets because I had extra storage with the double vanity (we used to have only a single) and because I was afraid we would drop things on the marble. We have had more than enough space so far. Paint is Benjamin Moore- Marilyn's Dress. Trim is just a white bathroom paint that we had laying around. Shower bench, threshold, and the tops of the half walls are all white corian. We had the window shutter installed. It is the faux wood with the standard white finish. I had read that real wood may be more prone to warping in a bathroom. Thanks for the kind words. I am going to post some pictures of my kitchen on the kitchen board. We updated it about 2 years ago.

It's difficult to help pick colors based on computer screen and picture variations, but I think the bold colors take away from your pretty tile. I personally like a gray-blue or gray color when looking at your tile. I played around with Sherwin Williams color and found these two as an example: All of these colors will vary depending on lighting and larger samples help make things easier to see. Once you settle on a few colors, get some sample cups and paint poster board edge to edge leaving no white border. Place it around the room and see how you like it!

Suggesting you not use a white subway tile. Try a tinted gray glass subway instead. Tiles are easy to find (these from Home Depot), but you would have to match it yourself. What’s happening with the walls and floor? Trim color/ceiling color?

I almost had my bathroom painted before my tile was installed - im really glad that the painters had a scheduling change. In my bath it is just the opposite -- the tile and wallpaper background are a cream, but I painted the ceiling and trim with basic "kitchen and bath white" -- and it looks pretty good to me! It matches the white porcelain sink; and is not a stark white but still a fairly pure white (no discernable undertone color)

Work with Edgecomb Gray and use a coordinate that's not white. Try Gentle Gray
