Does the early rising sun count when tallying hours of sun exposure?

Hi.

I went outside and took notes (and pictures) of my home's foundation in front, as the sun rose this morning.

What I've found is my front yard including my front foundation area gets full and direct sunlight from sunrise, 5:50am until around 9am, where then it turns to bright shade from my foundation to about 5ft outward, because of the sun hitting the top of our 2 story north-facing house and shading it. It could shade more than 5 ft out as it's only 10:30am this morning, so who knows what it will be an hour from now.

Does the early rising sun count as sun? Or does the sun need to be higher in the sky to really count?

I don't know if this area is part sun because it gets about 3 hours of direct early rising sun, or if it's part shade, but for sure that area is (bright) shaded for the majority of the day.

Can someone clear it up for me? I just don't want to get a shade loving shrub or small tree, and then find out they despise my 3 hours of direct rising sun.
