Found 2-gallon Everlasting Harmony - Hortmahar - in decorative gray pots for $20 displayed inside the entrance at Sam's late yesterday afternoon. Large & well grown plants with a prominent stake tag of "My Summer Hydrangea" & soil level markers identifying them as Everlasting Harmony. Circle support secured with tall green wooden stakes & a ventilated clear wrapper kept them uncrushed during shipment & sale. Grown in Canada, each has 19-25 bloom heads from 6-8" across plus multiple broccoli buds emerging. Very nice!

Dry soil (likely there a week?) but still looking fresh. Bought the 3 available & left them out in a gentle steady rain all night to rehydrate. Just removed the film wrappers, which extended under the soil another 5". Needed to slip the plants free of the pots to do this. Completely rooted throughout the soil so they could stand alone without the pot. Each holds 3 plants evenly spaced in a triangle, which could be cleanly cut into 3 wedges holding one plant each & be grown on individually. Since a single mature plant may reach 3-4' high & wide, may be better to do for the long run. Often treat multiples this way & haven't failed yet, though pot up each to grow on rather than planting out at that stage.

Glad I removed them this way instead of cutting & pulling the wrapper - discovered the pot has no drainage holes. (Though there's an indent that could be drilled.) Looks like these were grown in a nursery pot, then removed & placed in the decorative pot just prior to shipment. Instructions on the hang tag to water daily. Guess between the solid roots & abundant top growth, that could work in "gift plant mode" or on a covered porch. Maybe even out in the open garden - rained a full 12 hours on them last night.

Once the wrappers & supports confining the stems were removed, the plants relaxed into a lush, full, balanced form spanning 3' across by 2.5' tall, completely studded with blooms. Delighted to have found such lovely specimens at such a reasonable price! If you're considering this one, take at look at Sam's (or possibly Walmart?) in the next few days. Sue
