Thursday Bloomers
Comments (17)Thank you again Rita. I've not visited the rose forum recently as I've got myself in so... deep with way more plants, bulbs and rhizomes than I have time or garden space for. My yard is plenty big 2 acres but I have to do all the upkeep myself. And to say that I am way behind... that would be a major understatement. Someone suggested that I lasagna garden. I follow your posts and am amazed not at the amount that you order but the fact that you say it will all get planted. I have more plants coming and I would be embarassed to actually admit how much is already waiting to be planted. Sigh... Your go gettem attitude is inspiring. I was afraid the rose forum would tempt me to order more, when what I have is in desperate need of planting. I already get myself in trouble (even if only with myself) lol in the daylily forum. Although I have definitely decided no more Iris orders this year. Rena'...See MorePIctures for Thursday.
Comments (15)Mantis, I can't remember who hybridized it but I think I just fell for it on the Lily Auction and bought it not thinking. But it is a real trooper here so all turned out well. You can't tell in pictures but it has big flowers. Nat, the extra earlies had compleatly dried out scapes which I cut long ago but these are just regular season bloomers and I had to cut done scapes. On July 4th? No way that should be happening. And as I walk the garden I see scapes with one or two buds left. Soon I will be cutting more scapes. Of course, others are just starting. Nancy, it is always sad to get to the end of bloom season but you did have some nice rebloom this year. It is so hot early here this year with lots of rain so I am wondering if I might get extra rebloom here this year. I sure am hoping so....See MoreThursday Bloomers
Comments (16)Avedon, I was thinking of you when I took the picture of SUGAR PLUM JAM. I was glad that it had a flower left so that I could get a picture. JULIET is new for me this year, never grew them before. I can't believe how productive they are, fruit, fruit and more fruit everywhere. What I really, really like about them is that Juliet has a very large fruit for a grape type. These will definately be back next year. Nope, never heard of Cherub tomatoes. Kay, I don't can and really have no incentive to learn at this stage of my life. I do want to make refridgerator pickles when the Asian Cucumbers start to produce. Sometimes I cook the tomatoes down and freeze the sauce. I have VIVIA ITALIAS planted this year, a Roma paste type so we will see how well I do once they get ripe. So far they are all still green....See MoreLate Bloomers Thursday
Comments (18)'Last Man Standing' really has that 'Wow' affect. I love how bright it is. That is most definitely my favorite of these. And your NOID is very bright and cheery too. But like you, I would welcome any daylily that can bloom after all the others are done. They wouldn't have to be fancy, just keep me happy with blooms. I am enjoying seeing your lates. I just planted out my second Maryott order and now I have to focus on getting my hands on some LATES. I have room still in my new bed so lates are on my must-have list. Celeste...See Morebethnorcal9
