Specific feature question for in-cabinet microwave
Comments (5)I don't know of any built in MW other than the Sharp drawer MW that will go into a 24" cabinet. Most need at least a 27" cabinet and then the trim kit provides the needed ventilation and finished look. And I don't know of any MW period (of any variety) that will allow you to adjust MW power settings while in use. As most available MW's simply cycle and off at varying intervals for the % of time rather than actually adjust the power output, they have to be programmed for that and then run, and not change in the middle. There are newer MW's with inverter technology on the market that do adjust the power wattage output of the magnatron instead of just the interval at which it's cycled at full power, but to my knowledge, you cannot change horses in mid stream with them either. I've been retired for a few years though and don't have direct experience with them, so if I'm wrong on that one, I'll happily be corrected....See MoreOTR Microwave vent question...cabinets going in today?!
Comments (5)Here's my simple to follow directions for photos. I'll look for your picture later tonight (we're west coast) and see if we have a useful idea - my husband spent considerable time pondering this issue and reviewing available ducting, so maybe he has something that will work for you. 1. Open a Photobucket or Flicker or whatever freebie photo storing site you like. I randomly chose Photobucket and it's really easy to work with. 2. Load your photos from your camera onto your computer. From Photobucket (or wherever), hit the "upload" button and follow the directions. 3. When you mouse over one of your stored photos a box comes up with a list of things like "direct link," "html code," and "image code." The one you want to click on is "direct link." It begins with "http://" and ends with ".jpg" 4. Whenever you want to place a photo in a post, you type in this script: <img src="Your URL location here" </img> Paste the direct link address you copied from your photo between the quotation marks (replacing "Your URL location here"). 5. If you want to use a photo from somewhere else on the net, click on the photo and a list comes up which includes "copy image location." Click that to copy and proceed as above. I think that script needs a > right after the closing quotation mark....See MoreSektion base cabinet with microwave question
Comments (4)You might want to include "Ikea" in the title of your thread so people searching GW Ikea topics will see your question. I don't have any Sektion cabs yet, but would think that what you're planning is certainly doable. If you're lucky the shelf will sit at the right height in relation to the drawer front underneath, if not, you'll just have to drill an extra set of holes for the MW shelf to achieve the same. Other than that there should be no difficulty. Plenty of people have done that with the old Akurum line. Good luck!...See MoreMicrowave placement in upper or base cabinet?
Comments (9)BEWARE I installed a Sharp MW drawer in a remodel in 2016. Didn't start using it regularly until I moved in after retiring in April 2019. It was toast by September 2019 shortly after the extended warranty ran out. Search Houzz for the problem with MW drawers not lasting so you are well informed. I usually take negative reports with a grain of salt, but given my similar problems, I dunno... All that said, I loved it while it was working for the sheer convenience of the drawer and the streamlined look of it in the kitchen. My countertop model from my old house has been filling in ( for a year now!) but I will probably just order another $1000+ drawer and swap it in. My attempts at figuring out a less expensive replacement haven't gone too far given the restraints of Covid and besides reputable handyman to do the work are few and far between here. Also, apparently Sharp holds some 12 or 14 patents for the MW drawer innards, so they are the suppliers of the inner workings for all brands. Good luck....See Morebuatmacem2
