Open Floor Plan Help!
Comments (1)Do you have a photo? Custom trimwork can be used nicely in some situations to solve this problem. I have seen half-columns placed against the wall that can work for this. It would probably need to be tied into some sort of crown moulding and maybe other trimwork to not look odd. Sometimes you can just change the color at a corner and it looks good if the colors are complimentary. Pete...See Moreopen concept HELP PLEASE!

Comments (5)Can you put the snack and beverage stand nearer to the dining room or kitchen? It doesn't really belong where it is, nor does it look very aesthetically pleasing. I see you have a teal theme going on with behind the tv and on top of the fireplace. Can you pick up that color anywhere else - pillows, throws, etc.? What is your focal point? It can be a window view, wall decor, or fireplace. What do you enjoy looking at the most in your living room? For empty spaces on the walls, how about a mirror (only if it reflects on something pretty), or wall decor. Get wall decor from a local artist, art gallery, or art.com. If art.com, get a print and have it framed with plexiglass locally (glass is to heavy to hang, and plexiglass is safer). If you are in need of storage, consider having anything you buy serve double duty - coffee table with storage underneath, wall units with storage. If you are like me and aren't a neat freak, better to get closed versus open storage. Open storage is kind of useless and mostly decorative (in my opinion)....See MoreWhole open concept design help!
Comments (4)IMO A Sputnick light fixture is mid century modern, and I don't see anything else in your place that fits that look, unless you are looking to go ecelctic. Your table tends toward the rustic style. First order of business is to define your style, if you haven't already. Best practices is to get a unified and cohesive look. Put in top search box different styles (one at a time). Examples include: rustic, transitional, eclectic, so you can get ideas about overall look. Art is very personal. See if you can find a local artist, art gallery, or some colleges have their own art galleries. If none of that gets you wall art that you like, go with art.com. Get a print from there, then have it framed with plexiglass locally (cheaper and safer)....See MoreRelated Professionals
