Hose adapter to fit shower head connection?
Comments (6)Thanks to both of you. I asked at Home Depot's plumbing department and I was standing right in front of it. It's a 1/2" to 3/4" adapter. I was going to list the SKU, but I lost the bag. Make sure the "gender" is right on the fittings. I hooked it up easily (you'll need to get Teflon tape and washers while you're there). I love it. It makes my watering time much easier. Not only do I not have to tie up the vanity faucet, the height of the shower arm helps keep the hose from banging on the floor and annoying my downstairs neighbors. The fitting is unpolished brass, so it's not too attractive. I found a quick connect device that you could add to the above fitting that would let you switch from the hose to a shower head instantly. http://www.plumbersurplus.com/Prod/Alsons-750-Adaptor-Chrome/10135/Cat/868 Unfortunately, you'll need to buy two. This adapter seems to be for moving a shower head from tub to tub, instead of changing what is attached to one specific shower arm. You could instead use a diverter to connect both a shower head and garden hose, but then you'd still have to deal with the hose being in the way. BTW, container girl, that store is Community Plumbing. I love that place--it's got everything. When my place was being built, I spent hours there fantasizing about what I wanted and figuring out what I could afford....See MoreAny good options for a quick connection for garden hose?
Comments (10)I only use Craftsman hoses (guaranteed for life). But I do not like to return them for a leaky brass fitting. Brass has a problem in that it will erode QUICKLY when a water leak occurs. If you do not tighten it enough just one time, that will start the erosion process and after that it is just a matter of time. The female side is impossible to fix. It has to be replaced when it leaks. To fix that I go to plastic fittings. Plastic does not erode. Also with plastic I find it much easier to connect and tighten without leaks. I like the fittings at Lowe's better than anywhere else. The other thing I do is replace the flat washer in the female side with an O-ring. I believe it is a #15 O-ring that fits. I get them at Ace or at Lowe's....See Morewater hose connectors rusting and breaking
Comments (6)I would just get the plastic ones as suggested. they will leak or break it you ruff handle them, but they are cheap and can buy 3 to 4 to one vs the $4 to $7 dollar and up heavy duty brass ones. I find that rubber hose out last the end connectors. I have pex kit so I get the heavy duty brass ones and pex ring them on. Never pull off or leak. I don't like vinlyn/plastic hoses Cheap all way around and get twisted and colaspe...See MoreGarden hose and hose end questions
Comments (6)I would get the thick brass connectors and use metal strap clamps. even with the metal strap clamps you still have to periodiclly retighten. Regardless of the type of hose they work loose. I used RTV or super glue with some sucess at the joints and on the screw threads. IMO the plastic ones arn't worth a dare....See Morealbert_135 39.17°N 119.76°W 4695ft.
