All the conditions seen proper, and there are no known contributing factors, yet still it happens. Same with humans or all other animals. Occasionally you'll hear of someone who gets plenty of excercise, eats a low fat, low cholesterol diet, is not over weight, does not smoke, and had no family history, yet still he'll have a heart attack. Having said all of that, becoming egg bound is still extremely rare. All the books love to mention it, for the simple fact that it is one of the few conditions in chickens that when it does happen, is readily identifiable to the average person, even if it's after death. They have to put something in the chapter on diseases, and this one has so many opinions on how to recognize and treat it, that it takes up some good print space. Most other diseases or conditions have such vague or similar symptoms, that it's difficult to explain in writing how to tell one from another, and often you can't without lab testing. Frequently, the average person will blame egg binding as the cause of sickness or death, because a sick chicken is showing the signs according to the books. Sick or extremely stressed chicken almost always act in a similar way. They may become egg bound as a result of becoming weak from some other underlying cause, and that's more often the case than simple egg binding with no other factor. Prolapse is often confused with egg binding, and they are sometimes related, but in my experience, prolapse is much more common than simple egg binding....See Morecat died suddenly
Comments (6)I'm so sorry. I just loss one of my cats and I know exactly how it feels. You did nothing wrong. You noticed a issue and made an appointment. It did sound like how many cats act with simple infection. In between my cat passing and visiting my vet for more answers, I read lots online about sudden death. Here's the things that came up again and again: 1. Poison 2. Heart Worm 3. Cardiomyopthy If your cats are like mine, one getting into something wouldn't be possible without the others. I ruled that option out for my own house pretty quickly. For heart worm and cardiomyopthy, I would go talk to your vet. I became so distrustful of my vet for a few days after my cat passed, but I felt much better after I just went in there and talked to the vet for 20-30 minutes. If you go to the same vet regularly, just go in and say my cat suddenly passed away and I have a lot of questions. That is what I said and there was no charge or anything. The vet will likely explain the common reasons for sudden death and if anything else is needed to ensure your other cats are still healthy. In the end, my cat concealed his illness very well until he started to lose weight just like many cats. Cats are not like dogs. If something is wrong, they may conceal it for weeks or months without ever giving a single clue until they are very sick. You can't blame yourself though. You did everything right....See MoreMint dies suddenly

Comments (11)I just realized it could be broad mites.... I bought a small azalea a month or two ago and it died within weeks. It looked like disease or insect damage. It was located on the other side of my condo, but I used a tool that I store near my adenium area so it could have transferred that way. I'm not positive but I'm going to treat for that and see what happens....See MoreMoses, Pittsburgh, W. PA., zone 5/6, USA
