Oh my gosh they are EVERYWHERE!! Easy to pull up but good gravy they are everywhere. I've let them go bc of lack of time to pull weeds but hope to attack them next week. Every year there seems to be some weed running rampant. What are you doing? Just pulling them up? Judy

Yes, I'm just pulling and putting it in a bucket as I go, then in a trash bag. Sometimes I feel I'm not getting the root pulled out but something is better than nothing. My gardening friend (who is a garden club member) said she is battling it as well and I was surprised when she said she rolls it up into a ball and tosses it in the woods. Well, I guess as long as it didn't have seed heads that would be ok.

Last year was the first time I really noticed it. There was one big patch between two trees in the orchard. When I pulled it up, there was no grass/vegetation under it! That's how destructive it can be. I got really worried this Spring when it appeared in areas where wild flowers are, so I pulled every patch and piece I could find. I read online that some people get a rash from handling it. So far it doesn't seem to bother me.

The Garlic Mustard has already taken over a large area where jewell weed used to bloom. Some people may not like JW, but I do and now there is very little of it left.But if it kills or even hinders the Virginia Creeper in the same area, that's fine with me. Same friend told me Garlic Mustard is out of control at her place too and that she said if nothing else you can cut off the tops (blooms) before it goes to seed instead of trying to pull it all. I spent one whole morning this year pulling it along the hedge row and fence between neighbor and I. I've decided I can not do the same for other spots, just too much.

I have two areas with the mustard garlic and good grief I can't get it under control. I ended up spraying a little weed killer to help me get started after two years of pulling it up and very mild winters not killing it down much at all. The weed killer seems to have the open spots more under control and I can get in and pull the rest up as it comes up inside the plants with my hands. I did read an article to pull it up at the base and I've been pulling it up at the top when it's blooming. I glad you mentioned garlic mustard bc I had no clue what it was called. I hate using weed killer but only apply to indovidual plants very sparingly.
