Anyone grow any DAhlias in Central/ North Florida??!

Pushing the boundaries of Mother Nature this year!! after moving to 9a -brooksville, fla ( I was told by many neighbors this area is a cold pocket & considered 8a ? ) I found out I can grow a lot more now, than when I lived in St Pete! I've always LOVED dahlias but never tried growing them. I just ordered 180$ worth of tubers from swan island dahlias. I chose only the heat resistant varieties listed by the GA dahlia society. I understand fla is much different than ga & I'm farther south but decided I'm not going to let that stop me from trying!! I did read a woman in central Florida had great success with the Pom Pon varieties ?? I figured if all else fails, my fiancé can set up a big green house for me to grow them in ! :) Im a stay at home mom of 4 boys & we own a few animals but Im able to find The time to work my butt off in my garden for hours @ a time on a regular basis, if not daily. It's definitely my passion & sanity! I've found I can grow Some things in my Florida garden, regardless of what others (& the internet) have said ab it growing here & figured what the heck, I'll give dahlias a try! Any feed back on this? Does anyone grow any type of dahlia successfully here in central - north Florida ?? Please, all opinions & shared info would be greatly appreciated!!.... Happy gardening!!
