Gotta have these matching tufted chairs
Comments (14)sewwhatsnew - The chairs are beautiful, for sure. Have you purchased from Ashley before? I don't know if you're aware of this or not, but Ashley Furniture is notorious for failing to deliver timely and for poor quality worksmanship. This company is based in Wisconsin, where I live, and recently the local news reported stories about disgruntled Ashley Furniture customers. Apparently, they do not keep a lot of inventory in stock, so they deliver at a date later than purchase. According to the complaints I've seen, they make delivery date promises and literally do not deliver on them. Also, the quality is not high, so they have received many complaints and, according to the reviews, have not adequately repaired/replaced/serviced their products. Resolution of customer issues seems to take a long time. I don't want to burst your bubble, I just want you to be aware in case you have any problems. In the last 36 months, there have been 180 complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau about this company, and if you do a search on Ashely Furniture consumer reviews, you'll find heaps. I think they were also sued for copyright violations. I'm sure not every customer has been disappointed, but it's helpful to at least be aware of these concerns. I hope your experience with this company is positive. Keep us posted. Here is a link that might be useful: Ashley Furniture Consumer Reviews...See MoreMy Guest Room/Tufted Headboard Update (pics)
Comments (46)You certainly are a perfectionist, I would have never guessed that you make everything in your room as it surely looks professionally make by a studio. Your talent just seeps out! Honestly your room is just gorgeous. It's nice you have a Dad with talent too. Thanks so much for sharing this lovely room, as you can tell we are all very impressed with what we have seen you do once again....See MorePatterns on tufted upholstery?
Comments (15)Hi again Fori, Let me qualify my answer. (I've been a professional upholsterer for years.) There are buttoned chairs and there are tufted chairs. So I googled, as Kitchenkelly suggested. Most of the images were of buttoned chairs. In other words. a button is pulled just a bit into the upholstery. That is very different from true tufting which always involves diagonal pleating in the center, and vertical pleats at the front and back. Here is a true tufted chair in a stripe. Link below. Personally, I don't like it. I think it's disturbing to the flow of the pattern to have the stripes chopped up. It would be more choppy on yours because it is a seat, and the pleats would come down the front of the piece. Were you my customer, I would strongly discourage that fabric choice. Comments (6)The tufting on the outside of the chair looks rather bizarre to me. The purpose of tufting is (originally), to prevent the cushioning from clumping together easily... but the side of a sofa like this wouldn't have a big feather cushion, so it wouldn't be tufted. Of course today it's primarily just decorative, and decoration need not follow function... but I don't know. I would say it's too much tufting. However, if the room it would be in is very minimalist, then perhaps you could get a postmodern vibe going on, and it wouldn't be overwhelming. Maybe pair with Frank Gehry's Easy Edges side chair? (I jest, I jest. Or do I?)...See MoreRelated Professionals
