Heuchera - Coral Bells
Comments (72)I wish that Blue Stone Perennials were in Canada...oh well...they did have some heuchera that I don't have here.... LinBar, I don't mind at all that you posted on the Far North. I also love heuchera!!! I would love to see your list of heuchera. I am slowly putting together a powerpoint presentation on heuchera for presenting at gardening events. Lots of info out there for heuchera! The internet is a wonderful source of info. Here is a list of heuchera that have overwintered at least one winter for me on my Canadian zone 2b acreage.... Amethyst Mist Arctic Mist Blackout Brandon Pink Bressingham Hybrids Caramel Cherry Jubilee Chocolate Ruffles Crimson Curls Dale's Strain Dark Secret Dolce Blackcurrant Dr. Sitars Strain Firefly Georgia Peach Harvest Lemon Chiffon Licorice Marmalade Midnight Rose Molly Bush Palace Purple Peach Flambe Peppermint Spice Petite Pewter Veil Plum Pudding Purple Petticoats Regina Ruby Mist Silver Indiana Sparkling Burgundy Stormy Seas Strawberry Swirl Velvet Night Venus and, an unnamed yellow heuchera with green leaves.... These heuchera are new to me this year and I am hoping that they will also prove hardy for me... Autumn Haze Beaujolais Beauty Colour Can Can Cinnabar Silver Dolce Peach Melba Mars Miracle Pewter Moon Silver Scrolls Tiramisu I love the colorful leaves and the small dainty flowers of the heuchera. Comments (60)Yes we do live in the city. Right at the edge as Steph said. I am three long blocks from city hall,my office. Tonight my office was my recliner. Needed to work but I do not like to work in the building all alone late at night and when I do have to I let the sheriff know. Living in the city still allows the critters. Our city is so tiny (about 165 people now) even the critters hardly notice it is here. LOL The dog that got the worst of it the first time is the one barking at them still. The other dog heads to the back bathroom to hide as fast as he can. We laughed at him so hard. I do not think he wanted to have to have another bath....See Morewhere do we all get our plant tags from??
Comments (54)Thanks Josephine. Maybe somebody here in this city needs to start a hosta business. But I don't have the money or the space for that. And being in Saskatchewan a short growing season, it wouldn't profit much for me......BUT wait...I like your idea of splitting mine and making a few dollars, but again these are hostas!!!! I can't even give them away to my sisters!! LOL. I was actually thinking of doing this with the daylilies to tell you the truth, or try too, but I've got so much work to do around here I never get to that part. I was going to advertise daylilies on texting to everybody I know and then on facebook......who knows...See Moresuccesses and failures?
Comments (22)In my southern locale (7a), I was almost ready to write them off as a lost cause, but then a tiarella somehow snuck into my planting cart and I tried a new location (foundation planting on north wall) and it lived. Next year (last year) I tried a heuchera 'Caramel' which is looking great along the same wall. I also (being a native plant nut) bought the species americana, and it's doing great as well. The soil along the foundation is behind the roof drip line and a little higher (thus drier) and seems to have been sandier than my normal clay. All these things probably have something to do with survival. Before this localation, they diminished all season and died over winter....See Moredon_in_colorado
