Comments (42)I should show photos that depict its lack of vigor too. Great for dry heat, no crisping... but maybe not good for other areas. No new little canes yet. I really should be pinching off buds as instructed, I just got too busy. One got some black spot and defoliated, which isn't a problem ever here so if you're in a black spot area it's probably not so good. The others all have a little black spot too. This one gets the most sun and heat... it's the happiest. All my broccoli and celery, lettuce and radishes bolted in that bed too. It's hot....See MoreRRD?
Comments (6)I would totally isolate it Kelly, and see what happens. Don't be touching it and touching other plants. It is spread by a mite. You could call the company that you got it from and see if they have RRD in the area. I have decided not to purchase any roses that are leafed out from companies living in RRD areas. I do not buy leafed out roses locally. See this link that Patty W (above) was kind enough to answer for me. I want to avoid this disease in my area for as long as possible. http://forums2.gardenweb.com/discussions/4616955/can-rrd-be-imported-into-my-garden-on-bare-root-roses Here's another thread about ordering roses from cross country rose nurseries. http://forums.gardenweb.com/discussions/3896057/rrd-and-ordering-from-cross-country-nurseries?n=11 Rebecca...See MoreDiablo Hawk by Paul Barden! Comments (10)Hi Paul, Thank you so much for chiming in - I was hoping to catch your attention :-) It's really unfortunately that it took so long for Diablo Hawk to show up in RVR's inventory! I know Janet has had problems with inventory for a long time. Just this past spring when I had some issues with my order, she informed me that they were in the middle of a massive inventory confirmation project. Maybe they finally had a chance to get some muddled records straight? I'm really excited about getting Diablo Hawk into my garden! Thank you for sharing your experience with this rose with us! I'm going to keep a close eye on it. If our BS pressure seems too severe for this young plant, I will make exception and use fungicide (hopefully not too late) until it gets more settled. --Lin...See MoreGive yourself a treat by reading Paul Barden’s rose website
Comments (18)Helen, my thanks to you for hosting this website. Too many wonderful rose sites from the early days of the web when I was first exploring have disappeared. A few were captured by the Wayback Machine, but too few. I'm glad the one is being saved. (it's actually one fo the many reasons I prefer books. Information is distributed better online, but preserved better in print.)...See MoreAlana8aSC
