Miracle fruit not doing so well. Yellow brown tipped leaves burn.
Comments (6)Two of the leaves fell off! Well really they were brushed off. but what is strange but I guess likely is that they were the 2 most damaged or just unhealthy looking ones. I posted pictures of the plant now and of the leaves that fell off. Please can anyone tell me what is happening and how to fix it???...See MoreTropical trees Avocado/Mango leaf burn
Comments (3)Im growing Avacados and Mangos in Florida in the ground. We are in So. Florida. Trees are 1 1/2 yrs old and have tripled in size. They are planted in pure sand. No mulch, no nothing. We hardly water them because we do not have sprinklers and only use water for the flowers. Being new to these trees, my guess is they like to grow roots in a very well drained media (sand). They go dry for months on end. Of course, in a container, your can't let they dry out like Florida. I would repot in Spring. Get them out of coco fibre and plant in something that drains quickly. You could use a potting soil and mix a bag of perlite into it so you get good drainage. That's the easy way I would probably take. You could also mix some pine bark into MG potting mix (or whatever you like) and add perlite to that. My trees are growing in full Florida sun. These trees need strong light. Good luck, Jane...See MoreMango Tree Tipping Advice
Comments (2)Hi Glenn...not an expert but usually mango trees are pretty forgiving about being "tipped" or pruned... as long as its just slightly below a leaf node or branch usually it will form new growths in that area. As far as the last picture with the flower buds...its up to you? If you don't want it to form any fruits since the tree is very young you can tip it but if it were my tree I wouldn't remove the branch but prune a little to promote a few more new growths? But, that's just me...Good luck! Here's a picture of where the new growths should appear?...See MoreNam Doc Mai leaves tip burn
Comments (3)Hi, This is just my opinion...but possibly "if" the MG soil that you used already had fertilizer in it that might be the cause of the leaf tip burn. I've also read where hard water can cause brown tips? I would keep an eye on your soil, Mango trees don't like wet feet...and MG has been known to stay moist a little longer than you want it too. Perlite(coarse) would have been good to add to MG to improve the drainage. Next growing season when you start to fertilize you might want to try using either slow release, fish fertilizer or the water soluble fertilizer at 1/2 or 1/3 strength. Mango trees are susceptible to fert. burn. Just my opinion. Good luck! Here's a photo of my potted mango. Here is a link that might be useful:...See Morestanofh 10a Hayward,Ca S.F. bay area
