What are these bugs and how do I get rid of them?

These TINY white and green bugs are on one out of my 20 roses (Ping Dong Yue Ji) . The plant also has white foamy stuff on the edges. The buds on this plant look normal; they are just opting up. And it is COVERED in buds.

Those are aphids. If you don't use insecticides, natural predators such as lacewings, ladybugs and hoverflies will show up later and reduce populations. Meanwhile, if the aphids are overwhelming the plant, you can knock them off with your hands or a good spray of water. Your young Ping Dong Yue Ji rose would benefit from a good shower. The water will also wash off the aphid's sticky "honey dew" that can attract ants. The white objects are aphid carcasses.

I don't worry about aphids as much as I used to. I want the beneficial insects well fed so that they will reproduce and take care of the thrips that arrive later in the season.

I agree that they are red aphids and they are sucking the good from the plants. A forceful spray with cold water helps or try insecticidal soap. Mix with water as per package instructions and spray the plant. The soap will also kill any eggs and it is completely safe. Then watch to see if you've missed any.

Fire ants make mounds and not holes. The mounds start out small and become larger as the colony population increases. These mounds look rather innocent until you disturb them, and ALL of the ants boil out of the mound all at once. Again, there is never a discernible hole. I never worry about ants in my yard and garden, other than fire ants. Fire ants can be a problem for humans, pets, bird nests, beneficial insect eggs and larvae, and such.

Well for starters they are beetles. The magnification is way too low for a decent identification, but I'll hazard a guess: Given their size, I'm guessing they are fungal feeding deadwood specialists, such as Cisidae (there isn't a common name to my knowledge). These are not wood borers per se, but feed on fungi growing on deadwood or untreated wood. How to get rid of them ... well, I wouldn't want to unless they are attacking the structure of your premises. You might want to keep them out though (just so they aren't a nuisance and that you don't have to keep cleaning up dead ones that die trying to get back out). First step might be to get finer mesh on your windows ... but then I don't know what grade mesh you have right now.

hi there the tiny bugs will be a sucking insect spray with confidor as it wont kill your good bugs or use a hose jet to dislodge the insects, the yellow leaves could be nitrogen deficiency magnesium deficiency , root disease , excess / lacking water.. Normally iron deficiency shows up as yellow patches inbetween the veins but they veins stay green...

Ok, I will look into the beneficial insects. I saw a ladybug on one oth the roses a couple of days ago. Maybe she will bring friends to visit. I sprayed Ping down with soapy water as I tried just washing him off and they just hung on. It is only the one Rose but it was covered. Good point about luring the benifitials to the neighborhood. I have read the aphids like zinnias. I have these planted in one of my Rose beds but they are nowhere near bloom. I would definitely rather they munch on the annual flowers than the roses!

You can also dislodge them with a hard spray of water or do what I do. Just take your fingers and rub them up the stems and squish them!
