DA recommendation...(I know, I know, not another one)

Hehe, seriously though I'm sitting on my couch dealing with my teething 16month old, dreaming about DA roses. I have two red wood 6x3 raised bed directly in front of my porch. I would like to have a pink or apricot shrub with a fantastic fragrance, so less about color and more about smell. Bonus points if you can tell me where I can get it, nobody around me carries DA roses, so I'd have to order online. Thank you all!

My favorite DAs as far as fragrance that are apricot and pink are Jude the Obscure (wonderfully fruity) and Gertrude Jekyll (sweet old old). Both get quite large, though.

Hey Jackie ! Just wanted to wave to ya , my 17 mo old is also teething and it's like 4 at once ! My goodness it must hurt . We will get through it ! Haha

I just bought st Cecilia a pale pink . It only had one bloom but wow ! It smelt great to me. Abe Darby is a fantastic one for you as well . Evelyn also . Maybe see if k and m have what you want ? Also roses unlimited. I do kinda prefer my da grafted personally for vigor purposes but in your zone you probably won't notice .

I love houses and getting the chance to look inside, so I kind of like House Hunters. (It's a rare treat to see any of the shows, so I haven't had the chance to get too sick of them.) The realtors can be annoying, because they often seem to know as little as the buyers. I'm often shocked at the compromises people make in their original goal, or what priorities they use in buying a house they claim they want to live in for the next 20 yrs. On one we saw when dd was in the hospital, a couple chose a house weighted heavily by the suitability of the back yard for their wedding. 1 day. 1 event. And after, like other shows, watching several episodes in a row (Is that how cable TV works?!), I had to wonder if married couples ever shop for houses. I'm a traditionalist, so was surprised to see that the majority of shows were with young boyfriend-girlfriend sets. One girlfriend intended to take both of the master bedroom walk-in closets to herself, since 'I worked hard to build my own credit and I'm putting that on the line for this house.' Oh, yeah...that relationship was going to last... Her 'beloved' was told he could keep his stuff in the closet off his basement office. HH Internat'l is too out there for me... Guess I just can't relate, as a non-traveler..and someone without millions to spend on a 2nd home. I like to imagine myself in the scenario and that will just never happen.

Hobby...great minds think alike! I actually had a couple of trees in my shopping cart at Logees...a variegated calamondin and that vanilla blood orange....I did not finish the check out process though. I may still. I did something i've not done in a long time: took on a photo session for today with an old client that was a very good client. Please cross your fingers for me! If it goes well and they place a good order, I will get the money for that greenhouse! My husband has said I can get one, but I'd rather earn the money. I don't have time for photography clients anymore, but I made this exception for them because of my beloved trees ;-)

As i've said before, we will be relocating in a month or so and i'm trying to decide what plants to take with me and what to leave behind. I'm marking them in case the frost hits before we move. I've found several i've never seen before, so i am so grateful for all the help Gardenweb readers have given me.

Here you go: Jubilee Celebration. You'll love it!

Try Chamblee or Roses Unlimited. They will be own root, but that's about all you can plant this late in the planting season. (I just ordered a couple this morning from Roses Unlimited--to be delivered to me on May 1).

Lily, 4 at once that is terrible! Luckily it's only one bottom, but the bottom once seem to really give him a hard time. I currently have a Darby, and I love him, but I think I'd prefer something stronger up by the porch. I will be checking out st. Cecelia!

dublin, that rose is gorgeous! And I think it would look great in the spot I'm looking at! Now I have to hunt down on here some real photos lol

She has two back teeth and they broke through last week and then two side bottom teeth coming thru these two days. She's been so unreasonable.. That's the only word I can think of to use ! But it will pass. She always gets them in pairs so it stinks .

Don't know why I forgot to mention. Another wonderful pink David Austin is his newer Olivia Rose Austin. Lighter pink than Jubilee Celebration. Gives you a choice. Or get both. : )

I would imagine DA roses would be monstrous in 9b zones. If I lived in your zone, I would love to grow Graham Thomas and Evelyn. I do grow them in my zone 5b but they are smallish and short. Actually I take that back, Evelyn is kinda big in a mild winter because it got pretty tall and surprisingly cane hardy for me this year. I grow Teasing Georgia too and it is quite tall even in zone 5b. I would find out how big they get there. If you have room than that wouldn't be a problem for you.

dubin, Thank you again. I looked at Olivia rose, but I think it's going to be a little to pale for the look I'm going for, unless you can convince me it's the best smelling thing on earth ;)

I really like Princess Alexandra of Kent, great repeat blooms for me and the fragrance is strong to my nose, she will get big. Gertrude Jeykll, slow to start but takes off. Princess Anne, Lady of Shallot. Not a DA rose but one of my favorites and over powerful fragrance is Grande Dame.

Evelyn is great. I loved it so much that I bought another one last year. It is very fragrant but that is not always good thing in my garden. I believe rose fragrance also attract japanese beetles. Just some pics from last year in case you missed them.

Best pink for me for fragrance is Brother Cadfael. Scent to die for. Now that said, repeat bloom is not great and he gets HUGE!

Princess Alexandra of Kent is another great pink but she gets HUGE! Scent is good, Pretty good repeat bloom.

Sharifa Asma--one gorgeous rose! Not great repeat bloom, however

Pretty Jessica. Stays somewhat small for an Austin. Great rose.

Lady of Shalott--gets to be big. So far, not great rebloom but she is still young

mustbenuts, first off love the screen name lol. Second OMG I'll take them all please! It's like deciding what flavored margarita I want to drink....umm all of them? Hahahahaha I may be sold on PAofK, that's like the perfect pink to me.

Jude is my favorite too but like Sharifa a lot.

One of the great things about PAoK is she doesn't fade in our heat like some of the lighter pinks do. Sometimes she gets a tiny bit peachier in tone but just a smidge and I don't mind that at all :)
