Unfortunately, I can't answer those questions. All I know is that between the tile store where I'm getting my tile and my tile installer we're doing a number of changes to the tile I'm purchasing including making bullnose out of some of it and cutting and honing the edges on another tile (I want 6x24 but it's not available so we're going to have 12x24s cut in half and honed). If you're working with a tile store and an installer I would think they'd be able to have the same thing done for you. If this is a DIY project that could be more complicated, but perhaps you could talk to a local tile store and ask them if they know a place that would do it for you. It does add some cost. I'm not sure about the bullnose, but I know both are less expensive than buying a fancier trim piece. For the other tile that we're having cut down, the cost adds about $2 per tile (but keep in mind those are HUGE tiles).

If you decide to not take out your baseboards from the wall, install your floating wood floors with expansion space required by your flooring manufacturer. Then you can use quarter rounds to hold your floating wood floor down and cover the space. If you decide to remove your base boards first, install the floors, then put back the base, you may use quarter rounds or not since your existing base will hold down the floating floor. I like the baseshoes plus baseboards better than Quarter rounds. Thank you!

I can see the value in both of your points. Vanity is traditional but glass shower doors will by necessity have the roller type header, which may look more contemporary. One of the problems with the bullnose is the linear pattern runs the length of the 4x12 tile, causing the lines to run vertically on the edging when installed against the horizontal 12x24 tile. Here's the tile installed in someone else's bath. Is the pattern subtle enough that vertical lines on the edge won't matter? I think it looks even less linear in a wall position judging by the little 6" sample I have. It's a through-body tile and the tile setter said he could bullnose the edges but I have no idea what that might look like. Anyone have experience with that?
