I'm obsessed with this table but need to find an affordable alter
Comments (7)just got a similar dining table from saloom. it is a much darker finish. has planked top and is distressed. i bought a 84 x 44 table with 6 ladderback chairs for a little more than restoration wants for just the table. if you go to the saloom website click on the new castle line. they have many wood fininshed that you can choose. the furniture is made in the usa and it is great quality. good luck....See MoreBest polishes/waxes for antique pine farm table?
Comments (1)I use Tre Wax...it has a high percentage of carnauba. I don't know the brands you mentioned...maybe they do too? Get the wax with the highest percentage of carnauba...rub on a small spot, allow to haze over and buff. I use either a discarded piece nylon of panty hose or a microfiber cloth. Comments (13)Okay - the general consensus seems to be the stains should remain! I'll probably clean it up a bit with wax and 0000 steel wool, just to get any grime off, but I won't worry so much about using a special product on the stains. (The bright green ink stain, however, may have to go as I didn't feel it has as much history to it as the darker stains ;-).) moonshadow - I never find much of anything on my local CL either, so I look in the LA and San Diego areas where all the good stuff is! Even then, it took me a year of searching under "antique pine" to find this. My DH wants me to actually have the space completed before I start filling it up, but I told him these things don't come up too often in my area....See MoreOpinions on CL hutch for foyer
Comments (11)Thanks so much for all of the great advice. I was questioning the age of the piece also, based on the lack of wear and tear. My pine baking table is almost falling apart and has several stains and wormholes, which makes sense since it's such an old piece. I have no problem with a reproduction, since I'd prefer it to be sturdy, but don't want to pay almost $1000 on CL for a piece that wouldn't cost much more from a retailer. My foyer is large so it would accommodate a large hutch, but I'd like to find a piece that doesn't scream "dining room!" I can understand the comments advising that this particular hutch may not be suited for a foyer. I'm really at a loss trying to decorate this room! I'm not sure why my pics are showing up. They were at first, but I'm having issues with my Snapfish account. Thanks again!...See Morenosoccermom
