First, as to the "designer" at Arhaus, they usually help BEFORE purchase not after. Was that your expectation? Or just an assumption? The "designers" they have are really basically "sales" people although I have found most quite helpful and not heavy sales approaches. Not sure where you are. Second, what are your concerns about the layout? If you can post a sketch (use black ink so we can ready it after posting.) we can help with layout. Photos standing from as far back as you can from each direction around the room would help us help you.

Darling, the sale was MADE. ......: ) This applies to virtually all furniture stores, unless it is a very local venue and you have MORE big ticket purchases planned for that room., o for other rooms. It's a "show me the money" world in the retail environment; they live on commissions and see hand holding design as an interruption at best, as sales are also how they are reviewed in the corporate hierarchy.

It may be well worth your money to get an independent designer, to help you finish the space and bring it to life with lighting, art, accessories, windows.......etc: )

Some warm metals in lighting, touchable textures, a dab or two of brighter muted color.

Hire a real designer. Not a salesperson with a fictitious title.

The current placement seems to be blocking traffic from the doorways on either side of the fireplace and the couch next to the staircase looks awkward. Perhaps ignore the fireplace and windows for purposes of furniture placement right now and build the room around the entertainment center side, perhaps placing the table under the ceiling fan then the couches closer to it across from each other lined up on the entertainment center and the two chairs across from it? (This is something to play with as I can't see the dimensions of the room all that well--you could also try L-shaping the sofas on the entertainment center.)

Looking through your idea book I can see you appreciate muted colors, so go with them in a large carpet to anchor the seating area and drapes that flatter your throw pillows. Most of the items on your shelves look too small to pull off any kind of impact. It's such a magnificent piece and needs bolder, heavier items in it (maybe some creams and silver collections) and also on the table. I'd love to see plants on that table, maybe a large dish of succulents, or paper whites, or something seasonal....

I also think the lamps are too small for the scale of the room--you have a lot of vertical space! You can use it! Pick a punchy color or two--perhaps an artwork you love, and show it to us? A blanket? The reds of the front doors you saved is one idea....or the mauve above....but really, what is something you love that would turn it up a little and make it feel rich?

Over by the fire place is a spot for something else-- think of it as a separate mini area-- another chair, or a small console with mirror and/or a large painting? A tree, etc. Perhaps another rug there and some floor pillows (although that might be too bohemian for your taste?) Just some ideas, I'm interested to see what the experts say!

Actually THE SALE was the problem here. The room didn't need two sofa's, it only needed one. It didn't need the heavy cocktail table.....it needed something lighter in appearance. The "designer" didn't ask to see a floor plan, nor did she suggest a house visit to create one. After she wrote up six big ticket items? She fainted from JOY and went on to the next poor soul.

She could have instead, stopped at the sofa and two chairs, and said..."now we need great contrast, in tables, lamps, some pillows, art!......but that stuff is not the forte of Arhaus, or furniture sales . That is the "stuff" of a pro, who wants the room to be right, not a big sale that will crowd each entry point ......sorry to say.

I take it none of the furniture can be returned? I know the pain of getting a piece that I love and it not working out due to scale or layout of the room. Before buying anything else I'd nail down the furniture placement. Bump to see if others can help with your dilemma.

I would return some of the furniture if you can and put the money into redoing that fireplace.

Truth be know I feel badly for introducing the "problem". But . It is
too crowded. Unfortunately, there are a million ways for a homeowner to
very trustingly, get very bad design advice or NO advice. The world
and life are brutally unfair, and that is that. It's not illegal to
oversell someone. Nor is it illegal to not even KNOW enough to know that
as a "pro" ( HAH) you are doing just that!! WTH.....you are paid to
sell, not to talk folks out of merchandise! It's a point and shoot of
"gee, I like that" and dinnnngggg goes the register, no questions asked.

You can also argue that you assumed you were getting Pro expertise
and you can successfully argue as well, that when a retail store slaps
that "designer" title on a very ordinary furniture sales
person.......the store deserves what they get. In this case..... a
return. Even if it's a store credit.Don't ever confuse shopping
with design. One implies what "happens to you" and the other is what you
MAKE happen. They have incredibly different outcomes.

I actually have a question. Does anyone know if I can take of the slip covers to my filmore Arhaus sectional and put them in the washer? I've tried for months to get my "worry free plan" to cover the dye transfer that is clearly stated that they do cover but they have been giving me the run around since March 2020. So disappointed that the customer service at Arhaus is so terrible!

I am sorry that you are goi g thru this. I would go to the store talk to the manager and demand that they cover the due transfer. I would tell them I am not letting it go. Tell them you will go online and post and post and post bad negative reviews about your experience. Maybe they can give a credit and you can start again on some of the pieces. Make yourself a nuisance. The room in the end will work you do have some nice pieces.
