Thanks, I have found some good information on the web, including some anchors for the drywall...but I think the stud is the answer. In my case I has access to the other side of the wall as it is in the space over my 2 car garage. This is unfinished space and the wall has insulation but no dry wall on the over-garage side. It seems it is also possible to reach the recommended 360 pound strength by simply backing the wallboard up where the screws come through. Lag bolts and "wing nuts" were suggested, but as I have access to the other side I can put in a wood backing. Now with bad luck I could find the best placement puts the holes right on the edge of a stud. Drilling through tile is also a new one for me, not sure a masonry bit will cut through the glaze - may need a special bit. What size screws did you drive into the studs? I'll see what is recommended/provided by the bar suppliers.

I think you should remodel to suit yourself. Unless you are planning on selling the house soon, and you are actually remodeling for the new buyers. In which case, line up the new buyers first. If you don't like baths why would you want a tub? As long as there is a second bathroom with a tub for someone with kids, I doubt it would be much of an issue. My sister remodeled her bathroom and opted to take out the tub. She hates baths. Me, on the other hand, I love baths and insisted on a soaking tub in this remodel. But I bought this house without a tub in the master, cuz it's a super duper neighborhood. In this remodel, we lost a bedroom and a half bath on the first floor but we are making the house really comfortable for our family. It's wonderful to free yourself from worring about resale. Worry about resale too much and for sure you'll be dying to move :-) I dunno, this particular style of question comes up so much that I think a lot of people must end up with spaces they can never really love, just because another person in the future might not agree with their remodeling decisions. Just remember, everyone who tells you that they would never buy your house because it didn't have a tub is just that person's deal, not everyone who will ever be shopping for a house. My sister would buy your house! I myself would never want to buy a house with blue vinyl siding. However, those blue houses get sold. And when I was house hunting, I saw LOTS of ugly granite that no doubt the owners put in for "resale". Huge turnoff for me, but those houses still sold. In the end it always comes down to cleanliness, correct market pricing, and location. Unless you're a house flipper, life is too short to make decisions based on what somebody, somewhere, may or make not like in the future. Good luck!

Since you have 3 bathrooms that sound quite large, I would leave a tub in one of them and then do exactly what you want in the other 2 bathrooms. Whoever designed your house sure did love the long vanities! I'm stunned by those measurements. It could look a little odd to have counters that long with just one sink, so I would consider adding tall storage cabinets (if you could use more storage) alongside a shorter length countertop/vanity. As for one or two sinks, I'm building our new main bath with just one, because I like to have counter space to spread out on. That's fine for the way we live - my husband and I never need to be in the bathroom getting ready at the same time. Nor did my kids ever have a problem sharing a single sink in our previous house. But some people would refuse to buy a house that had just one sink in the master bath. I don't think there's any one right answer for this.

There are bathtub resurfacers and there is more than one application available. I have had bathtubs spray painted with epoxy which makes the bathtub look brand new. Contractors use it when a tub is chipped or whatever in the construction business, to "renew" the tub as it was when it was delivered to the site. I have had this done several times when I have started to sell a house. White tubs lose (all tubs) will lose their shine and it is because the porcelain/china is being removed secondary to use. It works very well if the people doing it know what they are doing but check referenes. I have seen some really awful jobs before and I have seen some beauties that were long-lasting and wonderful and much cheaper than buying a new tub and tearing yours out, retiling, etc.
