I agree with Christopher. And I think aphids are a pretty easy pest to deal with in most cases. There is a whole universe of nastier insect pests out there to be vigilant about. I find mint to be quite invasive also, and what a time waster pulling the stuff up. It's so easy to let it get away and become a neighborhood plant pest. I was interested to learn from madgallica that hardy geranium is not tasty to deer. I assumed it was, and didn't want to plant it in back where the deer come to dine. I plan to now enjoy having it in the back flower beds. Diane

Just order from Dixondale, free shipping A lot of local nurseries that offer Dixondale onion plants are able to sell them much cheaper then you can get from Dixondale direct because they order dozens or hundreds of crates full and get them for $66/crate. I think there are about 50 bunches in a crate. The place I buy my DD onions from sells them for $1.95 a bunch.

Possibly Canada onion, Allium canadense. Flat leaves, onion-like flavor. Look for any garlic-like scapes, mine are emerging now. The scapes will contain mostly small, reddish bulbils, with a few white or pink flowers. The young plants that grow from fallen bulbils look grass-like. I should add that A. canadense is considered to be a noxious weed in New York state. Distribution of A. canadense (pink designates noxious weed)

Can't be sure...but judging by appearance, it looks like either common onion (A. cepa) which should form a bulb, or bunching onion (A. fistulosum) which would have little to no bulb at the base.
