Benjamin Moore White Sand - Help Please?
Comments (37)Which white paint has a gray and peach undertone... Anybody? Anybody? Paint colors don't really *have* undertones. Undertones are just someone's subjective opinion about what a color looks like to them under an unspecified light source. However, every color does belong to a hue family. Hue family is objective and is derived from a color's DNA - basically, we can measure color and the resulting data is what I call color DNA. We use those data values to organize color. And I can tell you there aren't that many colors of white that fit a description of gray and peachy. I listed all of them below. Peachy referring to the Yellow-Red (orange) hue family range. We have over 6,000 colors in The DNA Table -- including every color of white from every brand. For example, MAG is Joanna Gaines Magnolia Home....See MorePaint color to coordinate with Grappa Benjamin Moore
Comments (4)Sorry about that. Attached are pictures of most of the first level. The dining room is sealed as that is one of the rooms were where the fire was. I am emulating some of the colors I liked of Sherwin Williams, but with Benjamin Moore colors. There is one color that I could not emulate. Sherwin Williams Sawdust. I love the color - it is an accent wall in family room (fireplace wall) and also in the foyer and I plan on using it again in the same places. I have included floor plan. Only big change is we added a sunroom out from the kitchen. The sunroom is currently painted Sherwin Williams Armagnac. When I picked these colors it took 3 years to pick them (with the help of a decorator). Due to the restoration from the fire I do not have that much time to pick colors. We will be painting the entire house (first and second floor). I plan on doing Sherwin Williams Dried Thyme on an accent wall in the master bedroom and figured the remainder of second floor would be selected when I figure out the first floor. Color of two story foyer will flow up stairs and into the 2nd floor hallway. Biggest challenge is the neutral color that needs to coordinate with BM Grappa and SW Sawdust. I do not want it to look yellow as SW blonde and restrained gold does) I am not set on Grappa, I just would like a deep dark purple for the kitchen....See MoreI need help choosing a paint colour for the whole house.
Comments (6)Hi Lisa, Consider the market that you are trying to appeal to. Is this area being bought up by empty nesters? Are young families gobbling it up for the education district? Actually format a buyer profile and cater you decisions to that. If it's an older market, I recommend staying away from grey undertone colours. These colours can appear more bleak and drab to oder eyes. Being as the home has honey oak floors, my go to recommendation for clients with similar floors is Benjamin Moore's Balboa Mist. It is modern, fresh and is neutral enough to go with everything. Will you be painting the trim? Benjamin Moore's Chantilly Lace is a trim favourite of mine. It has enough of a blue undertone to make the white pop and looks lovely when paired with Balboa Mist. (don't let the blue reference scare you, it's a trained eye thing) Good Luck & Happy Painting! Comments (14)I can tell you that Silver Satin OC-26, Balboa Mist OC-27, Collingwood OC- 28, and Classic Gray OC-23 aren't white. DLM is right, we'll be throwing names of BM whites at you for a while because there are a lot but it's all anecdotal. :( Perhaps a paint expert will chime in with colour values, chroma, etc. Are these whites for trim or walls? My suggestions: Oxford White (CC-30) doesn't get mentioned often but it's always struck me as an easy to live with white with no discernible undertones. Chantilly Lace (OC-65) - nice bright white that only reads cool in the winter months for me (south-western exposure, northern latitude). Simply White (OC-117) - as iamtiramisu mentioned, it reads creamy not stark. If you lean towards tans, beiges and taupes for decor, I think this would be a good choice. Decorator's White ()C-149) reads grey to me in natural light. Would not be my first pic for a warm-toned decor palette. Same thing with White (OC-151). It's a very cool white. Not familiar with China White. Another to consider (sorry): Cotton Balls (OC-122). Between Bavarian Cream and Mountain Peak White on the colour strip. Reads a touch or two warmer than my Chantilly Lace walls. LRV of 90.67 so bright. Does your BM store not have an on-site colour consultant? ETA: If you're going for white walls, I would pick the same white for trim and walls. Use semi-glossy for trim and eggshell for walls. Why break your head trying to find a second white?...See MoreRelated Professionals
