2 years ago the contractor who remodeled our master bath put Loctite Polyseamseal (a siliconized acrylic caulk) around the trim piece that covers the shower diverter (but left the little whole at the bottom open) and around the trim piece that covers where the shower arm meets the wall. Now we are remodeling another bathroom, this one is a tub/shower combo, and this contractor says he normally doesn't do this and that water won't work its way into the wall from behind the trim pieces or from behind the tub spout in the shower. I was wondering if you could share if your tub spout, trim piece over the diverter, and trim piece over your shower arm has any type of caulk where it meets the tile, and if so, what type?
