Does anyone here own one of those bow makers?
Comments (3)Mine has two dowels in the middle that you "scrunch" the ribbon between to make the center of the bow. The third dowel at the very end is to hold the bolt of ribbon that you are pulling from! (poor grammar, but I hope you get the idea!) Gillysgal, it's great to see you posting, but can you please lower your caps as caps are considered "yelling" on the internet. If you can't release the all caps button, then carry on as you are.....we are just glad to have you join us!!! thanksabunch (and that is whispering :^)...See MorePeanut Candy (not peanut butter candy)
Comments (2)This is Marilyn's recipe and it is VERY good! Salted Peanut Bars (The flavor of a Pay Day candy bar.) 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour 2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 + 1/4 cup butter, softened 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 egg yolks 3 cups miniature marshmallows 2/3 cup corn syrup 2 teaspoons vanilla 1 (10-oz.) pkg. ReeceÂs peanut butter chips 1 (16-oz.) can salted, dry roasted peanuts Heat oven to 350°. In large bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, baking soda, 1/2 cup softened butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and egg yolks until crumbly. Press firmly in bottom of ungreased 9X13X2-inch baking pan. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with marshmallows. Return to oven and bake an additional 1 or 2 minutes until marshmallows just begin to puff. Cool while preparing topping. In a large saucepan, combine corn syrup, 1/4 cup butter, vanilla and peanut butter chips. Over low heat melt just until chips are melted and mixture is smooth, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in peanuts. Immediately spoon warm topping evenly over marshmallows; dipping your fingers in water to prevent stickiness, spread to cover. Refrigerate until firm; 1 hour and cut into bars dipping the knife into hot water occasionally...See MoreHere's your eye candy boxerpups. I refuse to be a tease!
Comments (13)BH, sorry to hijack this thread but I wondered if you could post some detailed pictures of your brick? We're down to selecting the brick and we think we've decided on Western Sunset. I've googled for pictures but your shots are the only ones that come up. Can you post some pictures of just your brick, like a single wall? My wife and I are wanting more red than orange/pink and its so hard to tell. Thanks a lot!...See MoreNow it's candy canes, any baking ideas?
Comments (14)These are reminiscent of Mexican Wedding Cakes, but with a nice buttery-pepperminty flavor. They are one of my personal favorites this time of year. PEPPERMINT SNOWBALL COOKIES (Originally from Betty Crocker) ¼ cup crushed peppermint hard candies ) Mix these for rolling ¼ cup powdered sugar ) after baking. 1 cup butter, softened 1/3 cup powdered sugar ¼ cup crushed peppermint hard candies (I use 1/3 cup) 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2-1/4 cups Gold Medal all –purpose flour (I use only 2 cups) ¼ teaspoon salt Heat oven to 325 degrees. Mix ¼ cup crushed candies and ¼ cup powdered sugar for roling after baking. Set this aside and note that you may need or want more than this amount. Mix butter, 1/3 cup powdered sugar, ¼ cup (or 1/3 cup) crushed candies and the vanilla in medium bowl. Stir in flour and salt. Shape dough by level measuring tablespoonsful into balls. Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 12-15 minutes or until set but not brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheet and roll in reserved candy mixture. Cool completely on wire rack. Roll in candy mixture again. Notes: The hardest part is unwrapping all the canes. I put the unwrapped candy canes into a 1 quart freezer bag, then break them up using a metal mallet on an acrylic cutting board. Once they’re broken up a bit you could use a food processor. I make the balls about 1” in diameter, less than the called-for 1 tablespoon, because they expand slightly when baking. I dip each cookie ball into crushed candy before putting it on the cookie sheet....See Moreplllog
