Here is a picture. It was pretty dry when I got it so I gave it a good watering of about 3 gallons of warmish water from the sink - thinking the water from the hose might still be too chilly. Yesterday was humid and around 80 degrees, not real sunny and it was pretty dry again last night. So I did another 3 gallons of warmish water. The water seems to be draining pretty well out of the bottom. But I am not sure if I am watering too much, not enough, just right. You can see the tips are brown. Could that be because of the cold temps, close to 30, that we had a few weeks ago. Or has it been watered too much, not enough? The place where I got it from has a bunch of palm trees and this one was pretty buried in the bunch so it could be possible it wasn't getting as much water. Also they came from Florida probably a few months ago and have been subject to the cooler weather here until just recently when it warmed up.

I know this is a stretch. And the nursery advised that the palm wouldn't last too long if it didn't have any direct sunlight. Unfortunately, there was nothing I could do to convince the other people that the plant would not strive here. We have a 12' christmas palm located in the center of our office where it receives no direct sunlight, one of the vents of the AC hits directly one side of the palm and our office has to remain with the temperature around 75-77 because of the floating wood floors in the second level. (If humidity rises to much, the floors tend to contract and can separate from the click mechanism.) This palm become an indoor plant no more than two weeks ago and I have already removed 4 brown branches from it. We already thought about taking the plant and putting it outside where it will survive, but before we make that call are there any special tips that we could try to save her inside? I water Lucy (the palm's name) about 3 times a week with based on the recommendation from the nursery. The planter does not have irrigation system.

The palms grew faster last year( coming from Florida and being outside during the summer). Now, it takes almost a year for one new frond to unfurl! I suppose they have adjusted to the indoor light. They seem crowded in that small nursery pot, so I do plan to transplant up in the slightly larger pot…and then never again…because it is too large to handle. What is the best time to transplant?

problems created by improper growing conditions.. should remedy themselves.... over the years ... when the conditions become proper ... assuming proper planting and aftercare ... but.. being a tree... you have to consider it all in tree time ... not your time ... as i said.. years.. not weeks or months ... link below to planting guide.. though i have no idea how that all might relate to a palm ... but the parts on watering should be universal ... in the sense of finding out how water moves thru your soil .. and not just watering on some whim ... if there is a FL forum.. or a palm forum.. you might get much better advice ... ken https://sites.google.com/site/tnarboretum/Home/planting-a-tree-or-shrub
