Comments (7)I completely agree with yardvaark that something is needed to partly obscure the blank wall of your neighbor's house. But I suggest you consider the grade between the houses going to the rear. The photo indicates you may have a walkout basement in back. Houses with walkout basements always have a grade difference from front of house to rear of around 9 ft. Unless mitigated with hardscape, the result is usually a steep slope that the home owner comes to hate. It can be much cheaper to complete any needed work in the side and back before doing front landscaping because you haven't yet blocked access. Another area I'm looking at is the bed inclosed by the walk and drive. It's sloped and probably lacks subsurface drainage. All excess water will have to flow from the bed over the walk or drive and has the potential of carrying mulch onto the walk or yard as well as light mud stains to the concrete. Now would be the time to install drainage and maybe a curb to level the bed....See MoreWANTED: New Member & Gardner, Need Help
Comments (3)You can't grow trees from seeds, they must be grafted to root stocks. You can't grow a rose from a cutting. It won't work. I don't know about grapes and blueberries, but I was under the impression you must buy a vine. I would use google to look up how to grow and care tips for each of the plants you want, and you find out how to best plant each one. Strawberries will work from seeds, but seeds are mostly for annual plants. Gardening is pretty expensive over all with the soil admendments and can't be done well on a budget. Seeds are difficult to germinate also look up seed germiantion tips for each plant before planting any seeds. All the information is out there on google....See MoreNew Member Needs Help
Comments (2)Hi, Ken, and welcome to the forum. You did not state "where" in zone 7 you are. This is really not a good time of year to get brug cuttings here in Texas unless someone is just trimming back to shape. I have several inground and cut them all back in November and have lots of cuttings at that time. I can no longer mail them out however, so the cuttings go to those who come to my house to get them. There is a thread on this forum posted by a man in Florida, and he had numerous cuttings to offer.............you might check it out. Scroll down until you see one titled "Cuttings for postage" !! Good luck !! This post was edited by carrie751 on Fri, Jun 7, 13 at 8:36...See MoreNeed help identifying this cultivar
Comments (4)Bob, thank you for the possible name. I looked up this name at Hortiplex, and the bloom does look much like mine, except that the colour on mine is a bit more intense. 'Course, that could be due to a number of factors, and the bloom does pale out after a bit. It has been very frustrating for me to try to identify this cultivar, as I have looked at photographs all over the place and haven't come up with a good candidate. Your suggestion is the closest, and it may be the right one! Thanks again, Shirley...See Morelokai99
