What would you pay for this sideboard?
Comments (24)It's definitely tiger oak. I think it is very pretty. I'm sure it's heavy and built like a tank. I have refinished several of my grandmother's tiger oak pieces and they have all come out beautiful, so yes, I do think with a little work that piece could be stunning (as long as there is no damage to the veneer like missing chunks) and I think it is certainly usable as is (though I like a bit of imperfection in my furniture -- that way it fits right in with the rest of my life, LOL!) $300 is a fair price - it's not a screaming deal but you're not overpaying either. And if you love it (or even just like it) I think you should get it. For $300 it can be one of those "good enough for now" things and you can always resell it for close to what you paid down the line even if it's years from now. Try doing that with a $300 IKEA particle-board tv console. And as to the 4 hour drive -- hubby and I are making a 6 hour one for a CL purchase this weekend, so I'm not one to talk. Our romatic valentine's date involves a 6 hour drive to pick up a piece of furniture from CL. Gotta love it!...See Morewhat would you pay for a rug on the bay?
Comments (13)It's a very pretty rug, but it's hard to say what's a reasonable price because many rugs are way overpriced. Even our local Bloomingdales recently sold their rugs for 80% off, so I always wonder how much mark-up there is. Similar Gabbehs are offered for less on Ebay (see below). I'd wait and see if he takes your offer. With respect to the feedback, most of it doesn't sound like it's about rugs. Also strange that you can't look at what item actually sold for what (i.e. no clickable link to even the most recent items sold). Two other suggestions: Ask what the KPSI (knots/square inch) is for the rug and how much it weighs. I'd call some online Gabbeh sellers and ask to compare, e.g. www.persianbijar.com Also, make sure that the rug is indeed wide enough for your table and chairs. Here is a link that might be useful: Gabbeh...See MoreAntique pine dresser---CL---What do you think?
Comments (23)Here's a picture. It's kind of dark in the room right now. It's a pretty honey yellow pine. Above the two drawers is another drawer without pulls. It's obvious that the piece was stained dark at one point, trying to simulate a fancier wood. There's reddish stain in places and all of the bun feet are stained, with the rear one being very dark. The pulls are wood with little metal flowers in the middle. Now, I need to figure out how to fix the drawers. P.S. If anyone is interested: They also had a bed for sale in tiger oak with really amazing turned spindle posts. Haven't been able to find anything like that online....See MoreHow much would you pay for this antique CL chair?
Comments (14)If she wants to get top dollar, and has time, I would try other avenues in addition to CL. She could list in on ebay, limiting it to her area if she want's to avoid shipping, take photos of it to consignment shops and see what value they place on it, and also take the photos to antique furniture stores and see if they're interested in it. It's a chair that has good wood and quality and I think she could get $500 for it if she's patient. I listed a Baker chair of similar quality on ebay and had a buyer willing to pay $500 for it but she couldn't work out the shipping. It's too bad she had it upholstered in a pattern vs a neutral since that limits her buyers. Besides that, the economy is not on her side right now....See MoreMy3dogs ME zone 5A
