where did you find your cabinet hardware?

I'm sure there's a thread somewhere, so I'm sorry for asking, but I've read through dozens of threads about styles of knobs and pulls but only found a couple recommendations for sites to purchase from. I'd really like one where I could get some free samples or free return if I pay for some samples and then send them back.

I'm pretty sure I know what I want now - as far as general style, after tons of agonizing, but I don't know where to look to narrow down my choices. If it matters, I want a black or ORB arched pull that comes in lots of lengths.

I went to a local store that specialized in cabinet and door hardware. At the time their prices were as good or better than the online sources I looked at. It is hard to find pulls that come in lots of lengths which is what I wanted too when I redid my kitchen.

I ended up using Hickory Hardware's Greenwich collection. They have a nice curve to them and they come in 5 different center to center lengths: 3", 128mm which is approximately 6" overall, 224mm which is approximately 10" overall, 12" and 18". I used a stainless steel finish but they do come in an oil rubbed bronze finish too. I have recently seen the Greenwhich pulls at a couple of the big box stores in my area. So maybe you can see them in person at one of those type stores if you have any nearby.

I just recently posted a couple pictures of my pulls but in case you didn't see them here they are again.

This first picture is a closeup of the 224mm pull.

In the picture below, the middle drawers are 36" wide. The pull I used on them is the 18". The drawer stack on the left is 24 inches wide and has 12 inch pulls. The drawers on the right are 18" wide and I used 224mm pulls there. In another area of my kitchen, I have some drawers that are only 13 inches wide and those have the 128 mm pulls.

ATGStores.com has a sample program. I have not used it though - I got my pulls from Bellacor.

I bought mine from ebay. I believe it was from myhomehardware. I was pleased w/ the weight and quality of what we recieved. There was 1 pull that I'd bought for my kitchen that was too litte, it appeared to be chunkier or thicker in the picture (at least to me) and didn't have a big enough appearance once I got them. But I rearranged the others I'd bought and put those on less important cabinets. I've just recently finally sent back some and need to get some others. I don't know if that will come through or not. Hope so though! If you ever go to Canton, TX First Monday they have a couple hardware dealers there that have the same stuff that's on ebay for pretty much the same price.

I can't remember which website I used for hardware, but it was really inexpensive and surprisingly nice. Could have been Knobs4less or Myknobs. I couldn't get some of the plainer knobs I wanted online, went to many stores (specialized bath stores) looking, finally found them at Target of all places. I have brushed nickel faucets and coppery orb light fixtures and pulls. I think the mix looks fine (better than fine, actually).

The local store is "The Powder Room" 540 N. Santa Cruz Avenue, Suite A Los Gatos, CA 95030 I met the owner, who was extremely helpful. I am pretty excited by the Ronbow vanity and I'll take DH to her showroom. She also had a Toto toilet complete with a washlet in her bathroom with the Fairmont toilet topper and a Fairmont vanity. It was great seeing the American Standard Town Square toilet in person with the soft close seat and ADH height. It has a map score of 1,000 and I'm leaning towards this toilet over a Toto. The one vanity that really caught my attention is the Ronbow Adara vanity, which is available in a dark cherry and I'm seriously considering the Ronbow ceramic sink top (integral counter and sink). I think it will be a snap to clean. It's also available with a transitional glass door or solid doors (the solid doors are cheaper). I also liked their Asian-style vanity, but it doesn't come in a 48 inch size. I'm having some second thoughts about the carrera marble top due to the fact that this is the most heavily used bathroom in the house. Therefore, I found the sink top to be a great option functionally and aesthetically! I really got excited about it! The link below shows it in a lighter cinnamon color instead of the dark cherry. Fern, Celtic, and Glad, thank you for the additional feedback. Glad, thank you for liking in the old thread. I completely missed it both the first time and in a search before starting this thread. Fern, my drawings show two, too. I'm thinking it's just the design software. Why would they put two separate panels in a 25" cupboard? Hardware will happen! DH votes for one pull in the middle, because of Soaped Up Digit Syndrome (SUDS). Glad, I think I'll order an extra pull and knob, too. I'd much rather have back-ups for down the road, or have to return extras, than have one be defective or destroyed (or have miscalculated) and not be able to get everything done as quickly as possible. Ordering the hardware as soon as I hear back from the company about a finish question... tomorrow, I hope. Whee!

I've used Interknobs and Cool Knobs and Pulls and been happy with the service. I think they have sample programs, but I'm not sure of all the details.

Pulls were the absolute easiest decision for me. I wanted a simple ergonomic bow pull in satin nickle that wouldn't detract from the cabinets. Walked into a Home Depot found a simple Liberty pull I liked in less than 5 minutes, went online and found a better price. Placed order. Done.

Now recently I bought a new computer desk. Inexpensive and I didn't care for the pull it came with. Making the decision on that one took over 3 trips to various stores. For a single pull. Found one at Orchard Supply. Cost over twice what my kitchen pulls did. Go figure.

Badgergal I love your pulls. I saw them on the other thread and asked about them. They are one of my top contenders. Just trying to see if the sizes work and if I can find a sample.

I've used myknobs.com successfully. I've also went to bauerware.com in SF, with an amazing set in stock. Many kitchen and bath specialty shops will have sample boards as well and have competitive pricing.

Megan, do you have a Lowe's or Home Depot near by. They both carry that pull. Not sure if they have all the sizes in their stores but at least you could see them, buy a few and return them if they don't look right in your new kitchen

I love my pulls from IKEA, they were much less expensive than some of the other sites I checked out. And very sturdy.

eBay for my kitchen.

I went to RH for my bathroom pulls (after I had a custom inset vanity made) and had to tell myself $25 each isn't logical. I later found something similar from Lowes for $8 each. I love them.
