Need some help with kids room paint colors
Comments (0)We have a 5 year old boy who wants a blue room but I want to do a big boy blue that will grow with him. I don't want too dark- any suggestions? My 3 year old son wants green (to be honest, I want green for him) that will match a denim duvet and orange accents. Any suggestions? Finally, for a baby girl I am thinking a light pink or a light green. Has anyone done or seen pink with a green ceiling? Too much? I prefer to use Benjamin Moore paint. Thanks and would love to see photos as well....See MoreNeed fun stripes for kids room
Comments (21)thanks everyone! I was happy with how it turned out. i think my kids will enjoy their new room. mtnrdredux, would love to know where you got your pillows. i just found that stripe pic that my toddlers picked out online, so didn't know where it came from. That would be a nice touch to have matching pillows! lyban, sorry, I didn't do the actual painting. we used our GC's paint guy because DH didn't trust me, LOL! it was probably better as that room would never have gotten done so quickly if I had done it!. but i was going to do it following the tips I found on this blog. Comments (5)The turquoise looks great! When my three big kids were little they shared a big attic room. Dtr was six and chose pepto bismol pink walls with raspberry pink woodwork, white curtains on her two windows. Five yo son chose sky blue walls with Royal blue woodwork, and three yo son chose Kelly green woodwork with lighter green walls. Their three windows had green, blue and white striped curtains. Sounds chaotic, but it was adorable. Their friends all wanted multi-colored rooms. I guess what I'm saying is they can be individuals in a shared space. Choose your paint(s) wisely! *Sheesh...See MoreHelp to decorate kid's room
Comments (10)My grandsons have old spindle beds that were painted white. They do not have a problem with that. As for anchoring the furniture to the wall, well, it really depends on the furniture. If it's new, lightweight with little wood actually in it, then yes, that is important. In my grandsons' room, they painted and re-used furniture that was old when my in-laws bought it in 1948 for their summer house - heavy as lead! Same for the bookcase - it would take a 200 lb man trying to climb on it to tip it over and it would hold him! I don't like double beds in children's rooms. My children (and two of my grandchildren) have sleepovers all the time and twin beds are so much easier then. If you can, buy extra long twins like they have in college dorms (bedding is readily available for such). My grandsons share a room and are lucky that it is quite large (about 18x18). When I replaced the sleep sofa in my library (purchased at Bloomingdales in 1966 for our first apt), it went to their room, so now friends who are sleeping over can sleep in a bed instead of on the floor. Getting that heavy sucker up the stairs was a major challenge!...See Moremcris
