Care to see my new LR color?
Comments (32)Thanks Eileen. I was drooling over that crystal lamp with the red shade in your own post. Funny thing about the pumpkin: so many colors work with it. Who knew orange was a neutral! I was flipping through decorating magazines, holding up the colors against the wall, and I loved the yellowish orange/apricot/pale pink/rosy terra cotta range plus a neutral. I have some dark brown furniture, so maybe that will anchor all those lights 'n brights. Originally I thought grey blues, but the wall color is so vibrant that using the compliment blue is jolting. So I'll use the blue & white pottery -- blue in small doses -- but I don't think I could do a whole sofa in blue....See MoreLR Follow-up Fabric found for furniture - need curtain help
Comments (2)I love all your choices. It will be a beautiful room! Love your front door too. I saw your other post about your new chandelier. It will all go together perfectly. I think I would do a cream linen drape the color similar to the chair fabric. I'd do a dark rod and use some dark furniture pieces in the room to balance the lightness. Have you ever seen the LR in the movie "Something's Gotta Give"? They used the beautiful light blues and creams. Just love that room....See MoreFabric questions and would this work for LR?
Comments (7)Have you tried asking PB? When I purchased my sofa from West Elm, the woman helping me directed me towards their performance velvet and few others, because they wore the best. She also pointed out that was the same reason you saw so much in the store. She also said that if we had kids/pets to stay away from a few. So if you can find a really honest sales person, that may help. We ended up purchasing our sofa in the otter velvet and it is a really nice fabric and the couch look the same today as when we got it three years ago....See MoreTrying to choose fabric for new LR chairs. I'd like your input.
Comments (25)This reminds me of our great room furniture. Our big pieces are generally neutral and I add color with pillows, rugs, etc. Our sofa is a bit lighter than the fabric you show and is a textured with small flecks, but reads off-white. There is a flax colored linen chair near the fireplace (a bit darker than the sofa) and then "my chair" is almost tone on tone, a diamond type design. I've lately seen rugs with the same pattern. The background is off-white and the diamonds are a few shades darker. Doesn't read quite solid, but very subtle. We also have a dark brown leather chair in the room with wood floors and several antique wood pieces in warm wood tones. Although I have stuck with our shades of aqua/turquoise/blue/green accent colors; I love the neutral bigger pieces and the fact that if I wanted, I could easily change my color scheme with my accent pieces. One thing that helps is the sofa and diamond patterned chair are textured, which gives some interest. Love the sofa and can't wait to see what you decide for the chair!...See MoreRelated Professionals
