Nice godwit photo, Dawn! I haven't been shore birding for too long, and it seems like ages since seeing one of those.

Thank you, gyr_falcon! I didn't know what type of bird it was, so now I have a name to go with the photo. That was taken in San Diego; there were all sorts of busy shore birds out and about that day. They are fun to watch and fun to photograph. :)

Dawn, I loved birding in SD. The Audubon group there was so nice and fun, I went on birding field trips with them frequently. Moved to OC and the group here is...let's say, not like that. I lasted two field trips. So I rarely bird anymore.

There are more than one species of godwits; the one in your photo is a Marbled Godwit--the most expected one to see in the area.

The buzzards were circling and I was starting to wonder if they knew something I didn't about my health.

Thank you, sabbath7. It was taken at the San Diego Zoo. I'm having a low-energy day, so it seemed to fit my mood.

gyr_falcon, that's too bad about the OC birding club. Sometimes just one or two people can affect the dynamics of an entire group. We like to visit San Diego and I always enjoy walking along the shore when we do because there is always something interesting to see. There are some shorelines that a person can walk for miles and never see anything but sand.

Sabbath where did you see that orchid? It's fabulous.

Raven- it was in the airport in Okinawa. The airport must have had 500 orchids. They were all beautiful.
