Please, can anyone help me find more info on this china pattern?
Comments (2)Many sets of china are made witihout a teapot. Do you know where your grandmother got the china? There was a lot of china during the 70's that was sold/given away at supermarkets, drugstores and the like....you saved your register slips and with say $50 of slips and $5 you got a place setting.... I suspect that the companies which made the china for these promotions were larger companies making a specialized pattern. I have a set of 24 plates and mugs and salad bowls that are made in England which I boughtw ith the register slip and cash program. My daughter has a set of "Liberty Blue" which were my mother's, that came from the register slip and $5 program Some patterns were very popular....others not so much. It's pretty stuff....keep looking, it'll show up! Linda C Here is a link that might be useful: Liberty b lue...See MoreCan anyone tell me about this buffet, please?
Comments (16)Hmmmmm....I may be eating my words.....those dove tails look like they could be hand done. And the brasses could be old....they show signs of wear/polish. What is the distance between the screw holes...on center? The marking on the back mean nothing as far as dating or origin...nor does that previously glued on label. There is too much stain on the top to really say much about the wood....but the inside of the drawer, where the pull goes shows a cherry color. Mo matter what it is....new, old, reopro whatever.....it is well worth $200!!! I am puzzled by the lack or grain figure in the top....See MoreCan anyone tell me anything about these furniture pieces?
Comments (7)Here's the pic's I took today... LindaC-You mentioned dove tailing, but I wasn't sure which piece you meant, so I took pic's of both. This is the marble top chest...side of drawer This is the chest with the mirror...the back. Does the hardware give any clues as to age, or whether the mirror is original? I do see the difference in the wood color...now that you point it out! Still very curious about the stickers on the back...any ideas? Hinge that allows the mirror to swivel This is a top view of the drawers on chest with mirror Side view of drawer (Mirror Chest) The Pine Chest...This is my all time favorite bargain! I love this chest, even with all its stains and imperfections. Linda-you wanted to see the sides, back and top... This is the right side...in looking more closely, I think you are correct that it's one piece. The "line" that you see is actually a crack...there's one on the other side, also. However, if you run your hand along the top of the side, it's smooth-no seams. Is that what you meant by "solid"? This is the left side...the crack is more pronounced. The crack on the left side actually goes into the top somewhat. See how it's sort of a diagonal crack? If that was a paneled side, it would be straight, right? The top pine chest...hard to get a nice clear picture of whole top... And the back Definitely curious about the dark color. Linda-you also suggested having new knobs made. Who does that...what would I look up? By the way, I wouldn't change the knobs...I love them. Can I add something new? As I was taking these pic's, remembered another bargain chair...about $10 in a resale shop. My first chair had a laminated seat, but I'm not sure about this one...could be just one piece. Need trained eyes to check it out. The bottom...See MoreCan anyone tell me anything about this dinnerware?
Comments (6)My pleasure, glad to be of help. I normally visit this website to learn. Didn't realized that I could be of help this time. By the way, I forgot to mention that this tea set is usually Made in China and is made of porcelain. You may find this same design with various shapes of the cup, tray (dish) and teapot. However, the set you have is the most popular. Even if it doesn't worth ($$) very much, it's worth keeping it if you drink tea. It is considered as a traditional tea set and in some way, it is also a collectible set. In China, different type of tea is recommended to use with different type of teapotware. ie: Oolong tea is recommended to use with Yixing teapots, a purple clay found only in Yixing, China. Green tea is recommended to use with porcelain or ceramic teaware. Since it's porcelain, hand wash this set only. If you don't know much about porcelain, it is lighter than ceramic. It retains heat longer. It is strong but easily chip. Enjoy it!...See Morejemdandy
