Comments (29)ill have to look for some rooting hormone cause unless its an accident of a leaf falling out and landing in the same pot with its mother (which to my surprise when picking up the leave) started to sprout a baby! - but when trying from fresh leaves in there own soil after a few days (i've even tried just putting them into the dirt without waiting) i've had absolutely no luck just a bunch of shriveled leaves :( ... some of my plants I have saved from being mistreated at small stores where they are never watered and all ripped apart and stretching for sun I've specifically bought and brought home so when they are nursed back to health I can try prop-ing with but have had no luck and now some of my plants are looking a little skanky with not many leaves on them, and I'm super worried to start pulling more until they kinda recover... but its not too attractive to have leaveless plants with long stems left sitting on the windowsill lol! but what can I say - I seem to have more luck by accident then by actually trying!...See MoreSucculents turning black?!
Comments (4)Thanks for your reply Rina! They weren't put out in sun immediately, no, the bigger one I bought about a month ago was sitting in the sun in the garden centre so if anything, it's getting less sun now than I suppose it did there! The spots don't wipe away either. I couldn't get a close enough picture to show clearly but the spots are right under the surface layer of the skin on the leaves. Like something bad is inside them, growing out. And yes! The yellow leaves are quite soft! Too much moisture it could be! Although the soil does dry up quickly here, the air is so dry as well as the sun beating down, I've dug up a little of the soil a few times to make sure it's completely dry before watering again and the sand in the soil seems more like grit or even glass than actual fine sand. Although I'm gonna just leave it there in the same place and not water it for a while to see what happens. In the conditions of my patio as described and with proper soil (I think I'll have a look for better soil...) how often do you think I should water it...? Thanks so much! Comments (8)In lots of sunlight, many will get pink or red color on leaves. Just make sure you don't exposed them to strong light suddenly if they are in low light most of the time (that could happen with taking them in & out when weather is good). If you do, they could get sunburn. Are there drainage holes in those grey pots? What kind of soil are they potted in - little that is visible looks quite peaty. Good drainage is essential for succulents....See MoreHelp me ID extremely tiny black bugs under my baby succulents please!
Comments (3)I do not know what the bugs are. Plantlets look ok. I wouldn't complicate rooting so much - I don't see advantage of using paper towels; as you found , it could e annoying trying to get the roots detangled (I never heard of this method). I like it as simple as possible. Most of the time, I just lay leaves on surface of pretty gritty mix and they root and grow in it. I transplant them easily when they are big and start interfering with each other. These were transplanted recently since pot was getting too full:Bunch of leaves started in same pot & gritty mix - 2nd photo as they are now; soon to be given individual pots:...See Morejsia_214
