Should I cut off this branch from my citrus?
Comments (9)Thank you so much for your inputs. I did not cut off the entire branch, but I got rid of a few smaller ones arising from it. For the others that are curling back in towards the body, I am going to roll soft steel wire around the joints and point them outwards (kind of what you do with bonsais). Would you guys be willing to take a look at my other thread? It has more pictures: http://forums.gardenweb.com/discussions/3066108/worried-about-my-citrus...See MoreNew to potted citrus gardening. Comments (37)Heruga Their trees are grown under perfect conditions and are very well feed. I grew 3 tangerine trees under perfect warmth and light condition and this is what 1 year from seed sprout looks likeThese trees are 13 months old and all have more than 8 feet of trunk/branch/twig growth. 2.5 years old has a linear branch growth of over 100 feet. I measured it and am accurate to within 10 feet. The richest dirt heavy feed and greenhouse over winter with no slow growth season. This is also a tangerine tree and will grow 3 timed-4 times as faster than a Meiwa kumquat as Laura pointed out. 6b Steve...See MoreNeed help identifying a citrus tree
Comments (12)Many citrus sold up north are not grafted, but are cutting-grown. I would leave the fruit on and compare it to the developing fruit up top. It sort of looks like it could be grafted, but it's not a given for plants sold up here. Probably depends on the source of the plant. I know our local Home Depot, when they sell citrus at all, sell them as rooted cuttings....Meyer lemon, Key lime, Persian Lime and Calamondin....See MoreNeed help identifying graft line on citrus plant!
Comments (21)That is what I would love to see on trees I see. Our patio citrus comes soon. I will check. I will have the choices of Calamondin, Key lime, "Satsuma" Meyer lemon. The satsuma is rarely seen. No rootstock tag and when I ask they can't find out. I am aware that some places mark their trees very well. When Trace bought his Meiwa kumquat for in ground Georgia they sent him a tree on rough lemon. The tree did find but the rootstock died an pealed. It took awhile for the top to dry out and die. It took him a while after to find out what rootstock it was on. It should have been on PT, or FD, If it had been marked he would not have bought it. It took me qute awhile to find out that an unmarked lable of 'Satsuma' Owari Steve...See MoreUser
