We all know gardening conditions in Nevada can be tough, what with the wide range of temperature fluctuations, the extreme aridity, often poor soil, and challenging weather conditions. Sometimes the information and advice offered on the garden forums just does not work or at the very least doesn't work well in Nevada climates and limitations. Heck, even within the state there's such a wide variation in climate that what works in Las Vegas probably won't in Northern NV. So, here's a resource for you in your quest for gardening success in your corner of the silver state:
University of Nevada Cooperative Extension
The University of Nevada Cooperative Extensions has a lot of valuable information specifically for gardening in Nevada. They offer classes, tours, and other events to inform and educate about what does and doesn't work in the garden here. They also have a searchable database of publications discussing plants, gardening techniques, native plants, and invasive plants to avoid. They are also host to the Master Gardener program, which provides free, research-based horticulture information to Nevadans.
Click on the "News and Events" tab. You can see recent news releases and search the events calendar for upcoming horticulture events in your area.
