Which light would you choose?

We are building and I'm SO confused. LOL

I've done great with the stress of decisions until lighting. I've gone into shut down mode so would like some suggestions and advice.

I'm posting a few pictures of our house in progress. We are painting this week so are a little ahead of what I'm posting.

We are pretty simple but I like a little 'fancy' sometimes. Our cabinets are white shaker with a small detail on the inset. Cabinet hardware is simple brushed nickel round knobs and handles. Paint color in the open living, dining and kitchen will be Sherwin Williams Sea Salt. The island is SW Tricorn distressed black. Granite is Colonial White with nice streaks of black.

We are debating between 2 lights (and open to other options) which are very different styles. The first is our first pick but I can't find it. (Sad face) If anyone can find a maker of this light I'll bake you a cake.

Second option is more modern and simple but the lighting lady says it's really beautiful with a nice soft look..

Island pendants will most likely be clear and simple (unless, of course you all can find something to knock my socks off)

Table is being made and will be 6 feet long (plus extensions) and is made from a pew bench that was in my great grandfather's church so very farmhouse style. We don't have chairs yet. Any suggestions?

The dining area is in the far corner of the picture below.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Well, Good news and bad news. My daughter found this light on a blog which led to where to purchase it but it's $1,200!! Just a lot a bit over budget. Back to taking suggestions.

I really like the first but what style is your table and chairs? What feel do you want in your room? The first is pretty transitional and open-airy, I agree the second is pretty modern. What is your lighting budget roughly?

Either B or C...we're not the cheapest house in the neighborhood but there are some that are significantly larger/more extravagant/ pricier than ours. The neighborhood began development about 20 years ago. The original builder is completing the development. We actually chose the neighborhood before we decided to build. We chose it for the school system (best in the city), location (very close commute to work, shopping, highway, etc), and the overall feel. When we walked around while shopping for houses, other people stopped us to introduce themselves and tell us how much they liked their house, neighborhood, and the builder. We also ran into about 7 different acquaintances that all lived there! We looked at another development that is newer but the houses all backed up to each other so the backyards were not private. That was a deal breaker for us. We couldn't find a house in our price range to buy in our chosen neighborhood, so we bought the last lot and are currently builder. So far, relatively smooth sailing.

Which tile would you choose...

I understand what you are saying about the scale of the tile and in theory it makes sense. However, all of the larger tiles I've had in the kitchen (and there have been many!) make the room look like a tile store. As I said I had thought I really wanted a subway tile, but they just don't work when I get them in the space. It's that darn 8x8 floor tile that it seems to fight with. Unfortunately the floor tile isn't going anywhere. Most kitchens I've seen (and like) that have floor tile and a tile backsplash the floor tiles are much larger than mine. I want my backsplash to be very soft & subtle. Does any of this make sense??

Not a fan of either - just too busy with your granite. Go look on http://www.carraratiles.com/. I just ordered marble tiles from the. I first ordered a sq ft to see how it would look - came VERY fast. Tried another but didn't like it and called back to see if they still had the first. To my total amazement, they knew what batch my samples were from and they had plenty. If you are ordering very many, the come by freight to save cost and prevent damage. The only downside is that like all freight shipments, it's curbside delivery and the boxes are shrink wrapped on a palate. I solved that by having them shipped to the kitchen cabinet store. I ordered them late last Thurs afternoon and they arrived from NJ to KY on Tues! Jacquie, who answers the phone is a delight to work with! Great selection, great prices, fast delivery...how often do you hear those words in the same sentence as "tile"!

Which size light would you choose for this foyer?

Make sure to measure carefully and then do mocks. Our foyer is about 7'3 x 9'6 with a 10' ceiling as well. So not quite as wide but perhaps a bit deeper. We like traditional styles and bought one of these without measuring. Ended up finding one of these on clearance that we hope will feel better proportioned. Good morning.

Our table will be a long farmhouse but not super rustic. It's not modern but casual. I like comfortable and welcoming feel but not shabby. We are casual people and casual entertainers. Does that help?? This house has a bit of more modern or transitional feel but I'd say it's not really contemporary.

We're on a pretty tight budget so I'd like to stay under $400 for the dining room light.
