Happy Valentine's Day!
Comments (5)And to you too, Jeanie! Larry - you've got yourself a real sweetheart there at home. Bless you both! I'm sure you brightened several people's day. I'm not a very good sweetheart sometimes. I don't do mushy cards like my DH. I was proud of myself this year when I got up before him and placed his mushy card from me next to his morning pills. Feeling pretty smug, I fixed a cup of coffee and went to the computer for my morning reading and what did I find? Propped up against the computer monitor was a very sweet, lovely card from my Hubby! *sigh* I'm a pretty lucky gal. =) Paula...See MoreValentine's Day questions
Comments (53)What beautiful flowers everyone received! My DH called me white I was at Costco the day before and told me to buy myself something I would not usually buy and he'd pay for it. I refused, but was tempted to buy a bouquet. He knows I do not celebrate Valentines Day. We actually have a joke about it-his ex was married on Valentines Day so we refuse to celebrate. Besides, i've always told him that sending me a bouquet at work on a random Thursday for no reason is WAAAY better than the typical occasions (b'day, anniversary, V Day, etc). I did get him a card and a red velvet cupcake, tho-and I sent my kids cards. Dropped off a little package to DS that included Dove chocolates (his nickname is Dove) and he got a kick out of that. One year, when we were dating, DH had not gotten me a valentine, and I was pretty upset, but didn't say anything. The next day we were going to visit his brother and we stopped off at a drug store. They had all their V stuff on half price and DH looked at me and said, 'oh, if you want to pick something out for yourself, go ahead'. I ALMOST broke up with him right then and there. Turned out that since he worked in a factory full of men, he never realized that V day was the day before. One year I DID receive 3 delivers in one day-from a beau, another fellow I'd dated on and off, and another guy who hoped to ask me on a date. That was quite fun-and the beau who came to take me to dinner that night and saw the other bouquets was not too happy. (none of them ended up being my DH tho!)...See MoreDiet Pals - Happy Valentine's 14 - 21 Feb
Comments (21)Hi Ya! I kicked that ol' tire right outta the yard into kingdom come (I actually had two beers - pointed them into my diary and still kept my day value) on Friday night and a strong sedative....boy...sleep I did and still somewhat groggy today got off my keister, did some light kitchen cleaning, ran some laundry, puttered with my darling baby plants (repotted some and gave my fern a massive heart attack by sawing the root ball down and repotted it) and just made some cinnamon rolls. Yep, cinnamon rolls. I cut them into small sizes and pointed them at 3.5 per roll (probably less). I used splenda and sugar with the cinnamon, drizzled honey to goo things up a little and low fat margarine in the mix. I also use LIGHT carnation evaporated milk - really gives it a lovely texture and taste. I still have 6 points left today and later this evening I am going to have a nice cuppa tea and a cin. roll - finish up my points for the day, freeze some of them for another day and take some over tomorrow when out visiting folk (I love to bake, I still do a lot but I give it away ASAP and freeze a few bites for later). Friday night the family has decided I will be going out for chinese dinner this week coming for my b'day...they never asked what I wanted (I don't really want this, especially on a Friday night - I am usually totally wiped by end week, but I will go with my best foot forward. Just means that Thurs/Friday I will PLAN AHEAD and save a few extra points for that meal. I appreciate their thought and Dave's parents are here for another week before going back home. I should not complain, it has been hard on them even more. Probably be in bed early again tonight but first, gotta read my gardening mag. and my National Enquirer (weekly international edition). I know, I know the NE is pretty much fiction but I enjoy it. Small pleasures. Hope you are enjoying your weekend. Tomorrow we start another week and we carry on! Cheers, McPeg...See MoreValentines tea menu
Comments (24)I'm off to the store to shop for the tea. I have no idea what I'll find, wish me luck! (rhetorical) Edited to add that my local Meijers had NOTHING in the way of pre-prepared savory appetizers except for maybe those LaChoy "eggrolls" and crab rangoons, both of which would have to be baked the day of and set out right before and might get cold and not very appetizing as time wore on. I bought a wheel of edam cheese and some little puff pasty squares, which they did have. None of that square party rye bread. I'm kind of maybe rethinking the menu to exclude most of the savories, since the time is 3:30 - 4:30, kinda late for a lot of food. I have some date rolls, some chocolates, the cookies and maybe an apple bundt cake that was a favorite of my mom. Possibly a store bought cheesecake. Mom left behind three tins of cocoa powder, but I'm not sure what chocolate things go with tea. Not much, IMHO, maybe something chocolate cherry . . . I have pie crust and those PIllsbury crescent rolls in the freezer that need to be used up. Pie crust tarts are an easy thing, but the crescent rolls taste so much of BHT, I'm not found a good recipe using them that I like yet....See Moreeld6161
