HELP! Can't figure out how to decorate long wall
Comments (2)I don't know your decor style, but a large folding screen could be placed against the wall in the living area to differentiate that area from the other area. A carpenter can build you one for not much money. It can be painted, embellished with molding or covered with fabric or wallpaper, any of which could give the effect of a different wall treatment. Another idea would be to mount multiple bookcases or shallow shelves of some sort against the wall in the living area. The backs of bookcases can be treated similarly to folding screen to provide a different color, texture and/or pattern to the area. It's a bit hard to make suggestions without seeing the room, though, so if you could post pictures, that would be helpful....See MoreCant figure out my new long narrow living room!
Comments (21)we did give you great ideas. you chose to get mad and say we aren't helping you with what you have. You're the one who wrote and said 'it wasn't working". and "you can't figure out how to make the furniture work". Correct? Why is that? because the furniture is too big for that small room and the way you have arranged is not the best layout. That's it. you can attack us and pout for pointing out the obvious, but it's not going to change the fact that your two sofas are too large. no one said anything about having a 'showroom' living room. we were trying to point out what the best solution for your small room would be. (and patricia pointed out a possible fire hazard, and you got upset about that too). That being said, you can either keep your two sofas where they are, or flip them and put them on the other wall. Those are the two choices. Pick one. But don't put us down for trying to help you understand that fitting a square peg in a round hole doesn't work. fpmac,,,,seriously? attacked? nasty? show me where. OP asked a question. we answered it. It may not be what she (or you) wanted to hear, but it's the truth. The sofas don't work. I really don't know how else to say it....See MoreSomething is off, I can’t figure it out?
Comments (43)The reason I want to see that area behind the columns is that I'm envisioning repurposing the rest of the (painted) entertainment center into a bar. I would paint the rest of the entertainment center the same color as the ledge I suggested placing under the TV to tie them together. I would then place them on the back wall with the buffet piece between the display cabinets. To make the bottom cabinet look more like a bar, I would get a thick piece of glass cut to place on top. I would then get a nice metal serving tray to put on top and place barware on it. I would put a large mirror or piece of artwork above the buffet. You could use the rest of the cabinets to store or display whatever you want and the setup would look intentional. If you like to entertain it will come in handy to have that place to serve as a bar or to set appetizers....See MoreWallpaper? New paint color? Help me figure out my fireplace wall!
Comments (30)I know, you didn't ask about other parts of the room. The photos showing blue paint are nice, but I'd photoshop various transitional rugs. Seems a foundation would be better than wall changes. Soft blue imo is a tad delicate with much white. What about a soft teal, or green?...See Morehondarocks
