5ft by 6ft bathroom help
Comments (42)selfridge74, I wish I could upload too as we are quite pleased with it all. But I pulled out my Bathroom file just now and it is actually called a 36 " not 32" shower. I guess the larger distance from corner to outer curve. It is MAAX Intuition Neo round 36" on this link. http://www.maax.com/en/products/shower-doors/corner/intuition-neoround The round ones are more fully rounded while these have a bit of a straight edge from each wall, then round out at the front only. It's a bit of a space saver. You can get plastic interior walls or just the floor and door and tile it, which we did. To the left of our shower we put our vanity with the back against same wall as shower and left side against the wall. There is a 6" gap between the right side of the vanity and the shower base, so its easy to clean in between them and doesn't look crowded. On the other side of the shower, (right angle, is our toilet on the short 5'5" wall. We got a Foremost Allery which had very good ratings, was one of the few round bowl designs so the bowl doesn't protrude quite as much, but elongated would still be OK. It is a skirted one piece that we quite like. Hard to explain it all but on the opposite wall of the vanity is the door. A regular 28" wide door and it swings into the bathroom. To the right of the door on the same wall that cut in 14" is a lovely little corner wall cabinet with rounded front. It fits in that little nook where the wall changes. It matches our vanity and gives us extra storage. They are made by a Canadian company in Quebec called Luxo Design. Our cabinet is still in their catalogue. It called Winter. The little corner unit that matched came from the Moonlight design, but was the same high gloss white and a perfect match. On the Winter cabinet we removed the sink that came with it as it didn't allow fitting against two walls. We put granite and a bowl sink on it. Here is a link to the company. http://www.luxodesign.ca/index.php?page=produits Sorry verbal description is very hard. It likely makes no sense! The end result was a pretty stylish small bathroom that is completely functional....See MoreTeeny tiny full bathroom reveal. Some said it couldn't be done!
Comments (23)Monica, that floor is gorgeous in her inspiration photo!! The tile showrooms (at least here in the Northeast) are all showing dozens of wood/tile varieties. I'm sure she could find several wide pine options like her Photo. I would do real wood anywhere except a bathroom. I was afraid of the moisture on it. Have her post updates here! Farmhouse coastal is a gorgeous look. I redid my kitchen 3 years ago with New England coastal theme and still love it as much as I did on day 1! Last night, I took my first bath in the new bathroom and love the tub and how deep it is. Haven't tried the handheld yet......See MoreBathroom Door Sticking
Comments (8)I am assuming you did not do the installation yourself. Usually, jambs are screwed (or nailed) into the adjacent stud, with shims inserted to adjust the spacing between the jamb and the closed door. Look at the jamb in the vicinity of the sticking area, and see if there is a screw or nail there. If so, try tightening it. If not, you might put one in and try to pull the jamb closer (won't work if there is a shim there). If this problem were mine, I would carefully remove the molding there and see what's behind the jamb....See MoreWallpaper in the Bathroom
Comments (68)I love wallpaper and have it in most of the rooms in my house. Some of it has been there for decades and is still in excellent condition. Having said this, I have told my children that when they haul me out of here, dead or alive, to remove all the wallpaper before putting the house up for sale. People are terrified of removing wallpaper - think it will destroy the walls (if drywall and not properly primed, it might!), or will cost a fortune to remove. So I told them to only leave the wallpaper in two bathrooms - both are done in a Farrow & Ball strie paper and they make the two baths. As to wallpaper and using it in a bath or kitchen. One is no longer limited to "kitchen/bath vinyl wallpaper. I chose a gorgeous french documentary paper for my kitchen when we were moving here in 1984. I was worried about using it as a backsplash in my kitchen (which is what one did in those days), and a rep in the Brunschwig & Fils showroom in LA, told me to just send it to ResistFlame in Cincinnati. They would coat it with vinyl and I'd be good to go. I did this and have done it many times since. One has a choice of matte finish (my choice) or glossy, and it can be single/double/triple coated depending on the wear/tear one expects it to have to endure. I've always done single coating and that has been fine. It is totally wipeable/scrubable with a Dobie pad. The company is so easy to work with - I usually just have the paper drop-shipped directly to them. They coat the paper and then ship it to me. It's really quite reasonably priced....See MoreUser
