Bougainvillea leaves

This is my bougainvillea plant that was outside this summer and bloomed very well, but since fall I have bought in indoors but the leaves are falling and the stems look dry, first I thought the leaves were falling due over watering so I cut back, now the leaves look green but frail and still falling, even the small stem that caught root (in pic) had 2 leaves but they also fell off. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks

Sorry everyone has ignored you.

If the plant is still alive, I suggest you gently probe at the stem to see if it is rotting. If not, it may have a root problem.

You didn't mention how low the temps went before you brought it in. If below 50, it was already failing.

Then, too, you must have a very bright place to keep it indoors. Even then, leaves will drop because they grew while in full sunlight. They must be replaced by shade-grown leaves while the plant is indoors.
It appears to be in tough condition and may not survive. It is very weak and spindly. Perhaps it wasn't in top condition when it came indoors thus, was unable to make the required adjustment to survive.

Consider replacing it when fresh plants are available in spring.

Appreciate the feedback, when the plant was bought indoors it was still with flowers at an outdoor temp of 55. Its leaves fell and these were the new indoor or shady leaves which are now falling. I cutback with water till the soil was dry and then watered but it didnt seem to help, its in the basement so gets light from the home lights.

Yes, Cara. I repotted 2 variegated bougainvillea 3-4 weeks back. I used slightly larger pots, soilless mix. And I use fertilizer formulated specifically for bougainvilkeas. But brown edges were on the leaves before I repotted them. They bloomed in July-August. Then they re bloomed in September and in blooms now. Looks like brown edges don't effect my boogainvilkeas too much. But in case it's something serious I certainly want to start treatment ASAP.

Wondering if anyone might know what the light brown spots are on this young bougainvillea's leaves? I bought it from a reputable plant centre 2 wks ago, but along with another one, it's not holding it's own much - I'd potted up the other but it's not doing very well since so figured I'd maybe let this one sit awhile longer as they don't seem to have much in the way of roots yet. I live in the UK (west).

where are you ... whats the weather been... how do you care for it.. in terms of water ... how long has it been potted.... do you fert .... its usually my position.. that a plant that is flowering.. cant be all that unhappy .... but it MIGHT need some fert .. in the proper season.. which might not be winter ... if so.. i would use 1/4 strength with each watering ... but dont jump that gun yet ... when is the last time you changed out the media... it might be wearing out ... ken

Did I mess up my roses w/ the bougainvillea leaves and wood (mulch)

Completely new to gardening. I had a bunch of bougainvillea leaves and wood that I been broken down for days/years. I added it around my rose as a mulch, and mixing it up into the soil because that area was hard clay. Should i not have done that? It's a small area and i can easily dig it away, but wanted to check before doing so. Also, what would be good for cracked clay soil? I'm thinking bark mulch, but the nursery recommends compost and gypsum. This is a bit too expensive for me right now.

Bougainvillea really likes strong sunlight and hot weather. If you have to bring it in over the winter, give it the brightest possible light - a south-facing sun porch - and minimal water.
