Black or white headboards?

This is the guest room in the cabin. My plan is for 2 queen beds, a tv armoire and a wingback chair in the corner. 2 beds so I can host girls weekends, (our book club does 2-3 day long trips together) but also can be used by a couple.

The walls are knotty pine and the carpet is a neutral Berber. I own a nice collection of red and white antique quilts which is guiding the overall design palette. I also own a red and white buffalo check wingback chair.

The room(not my furniture).

My revised layout, I'm reversing a bit. Armoire will go where bed is shown in pic. I have hashed this layout out already, I know it's not traditional but it works best for this house.

A chair like mine, minus the ottoman.

Bedding I plan to get from Ballards. I'm just getting the shams and bed skirts, I will use quilts at the end of the bed.

Quilts like mine (I actually have close to 10 different quilts).

I'm putting this type of lamp centered over each bed.

This is the artwork I found and love. One above the light over the beds?

So should I introduce more black with black headboards or stick with the white theme and do white headboards?

The adjoining bathroom is going to get a slight refresh. All I can do for now is paint. I think I'll go with cream for the walls and paint the vanity black and change the hardware.

Either will work fine but the black will have more impact.

You have lots of options... Chocolate brown (BM clinton brown) could look great, I know it's dark but it would be dramatic. BM hot spring stones is a great warm gray with a slight violet undertone, looks great with black & white.

So, I read all the comments, then I went up in my bedroom with a camera and had an honest look around. I'll try to post photos in a minute. Right now I have a hodgepodge in there, so I said to myself, what pieces do I really want to keep, and how will this headboard look with them? The things I love: the antique oriental rug, the appliqued quilt, with kind of a nod to arts and crafts, the quartersawn oak dresser, also antique or nearly so, the wing chair, even the unbleached muslin curtains--they are all saying no to this headboard. I think the spindles, which I was going to get rid of, said classic to me. But the rest of the headboard, as bumblebeez said, has a more modern style. I think I've seen magazine spreads where a bed like this would look cool. But taking a hard look at my bedroom makes me realize what an old-fashioned gal I am. Somebody could really do something with this piece, but I think as Mildred and Red implied, if this was right for me, I wouldn't be hesitating or asking for second opinions. Thank you all for helping me to sort this out. It would have taken me forever to paint all those curvy bits anyway.

they don't do plain old gray screens anymore? do you have a pic of what it looks like w/the black or the white screens? also, remove those shutters. they don't work at all on the large window, and are useless on the smaller window.

I think black to show more against all the knotty pine. It should look great with the red and white you'll be using.

This is going to be one gorgeous guest room! I vote definitely Black, which will have a much better visual impact, IMO. OK, so let me know when the next girls' weekend is so I can pen it on my calendar (LOL).

2 more things to pick your brains about.

Would you do a straight headboard or something with a bit of curve to it?

Examples-

Squared

A deep curve, (this comes in black)

Slight curve,

And finally, what color for the nightstand between the beds? Red, white, black or wood like the armoire?

Deep curve and a black nightstand. I did a guest room in SW Jersey Cream walls, black iron headboard, white quilt with red throw, and red/white buffalo check drapes and bedskirt. I painted an antique table red to be used as the nightstand. The finish was terrible and a little chunk was missing on the lower back so I decided paint was the best option. We get so many compliments on this room.
